Christ is Born! Glorify Him!

I’m not sure this is the place to discuss what is an internal squabble.

It seems that some people take great pride in being a “Cradle” Byzantine Catholic and holding on to what they consider tradition.

It seems that in this squabble Personal Opinion is of prime importance where some people are of the opinion that they are the experts on liturgical change.

It seems that some “cradle” Byzantines do not follow the traditional teachings of their church concerning love and charity and therefore exhibit a great disrespect for other Byzantines and especially for their Bishop.

However, as I stated this forum is not the place to display a lack of charity towards other Byzantine Catholics based on personal opinion.

Yours in Christ,
Father Deacon Paul

UC: Suffice it to say that you are simply wrong on your facts about St. Mary’s Pokrov in Johnstown. (I personally spoke to Msgr. Balta on thus very issue last December.) So your inferences are ill-conceived.

I don’t know what Rome will do, but after a long century here - working our way from under the authority of Latin bishops, to obtaining our own bishops, becoming an archeparcy, then sui juris church - I hope, that our hierarchs will politely but firmly tell Rome to see to its own liturgy, and leaves ours to us.

Any idea of that primacy need not imply supremacy will go out the window if Rome gives mandates. The very idea that our liturgy should be written and prescribed by the Vatican is utterly absurd. We certainly should, and have, cooperated with Rome in the promulgation of the RDL; anything more would be a gross intrusion into the affiars of a sui juris chruch and would have terrible consequences for relations with EC churches, let alone rapprochement with the EO churches.
Just talked to a friend who attended liturgy last weekend and no new RDL books in the pews, period. His family once belonged to Pokrov parish, but he himself joined Holy Trinity in Conemaugh in the 1990’s.

This is a different matter than that raised in your original statement, which, as I mentioned, is false.
OK, so did they buy the new RDL books, but not put them in the pews or used them yet?
