 You won’t pray to the Holy Spirit?
God- Father, Son and HS
three in one. Glory Be.

I don’t pray to the Saints, how would I know where they are. Yes probably in heaven but who knows whats in someones heart.

I think you seen I was Christian, but I"m Catholic so I think you were trying to trap me or something, because I don’t pray to the Saints or ask for their intercession.

Seances are conjuring and a sin. They are also evidence of impatience and mistrust of God. If you want to talk to a relative, simply pray for them and depending on your disposition your prayer will reach them. Has Catholics, even orthodox, we recognize Christ has our messaging center and control point. If they wish to communicate with us, then they would need permission from Christ to do so.

Seances have no screening system because God has already warned us of doing such acts. Demons are quite capable of disguise and present a wholesome and loving demeanor, as well has relate past knowledge and events of the individual you are trying to invoke. Once entrenched by acceptance, a subtle change in degrees can result. There is no guarantee that the demon will remain in context. Now proving to God the invokee has committed a mortal sin, God retracts his protecting grace to a degree which allows for further negative involvement in the person’s life. A downward spiral could result.

We do not wish to delve on idiosyncrasies of a practice that is forbidden, which purpose could only serve to entice further experimentation.

Before I became Catholic, I used to hold séances. My advice is to keep as far away from them as you can. Those contacted during a séance are not your ancestors or the spirits of anyone, but demons masquerading as the spirits of people. ***This is extremely dangerous. ***It opens the door for evil to enter your life in a very real and tangible way. Even just attending a séance opens you to this evil influence. Once this door is opened, it is extremely difficult to close again.

Praying for those who have passed on and asking for intercessory prayer from those who have gone before us, like Mary and the Saints, is nothing like a séance. Again, those contacted in a séance are evil spirits/demons, not saints or your ancestors. In a séance, you call up the spirits, in prayer, you do not.

Yes, I think even just watching a séance on youtube will open the door to that evil.

Even now, after 32 years as a faithful, practicing Catholic, I still have problems with evil spirits. They manifest in different ways. One lurked about my house and made itself known with a feeling of great fear, terrible evil and a really bad smell. Just last night, satan was in my dreams.

**Do not have anything to do with séances. It imperils your immortal soul.

would you say that just talking with your deceased relatives like you would talk with a saint is dangerous? I mean, if you had been fighting with your eg. deceased grandmother and wanted to tell her that you’re sorry and what a good relationship from now on.
Do you say this is dangerous and must avoided at any cost?

It’s fine to talk to dead relatives like you would a saint, but not to try and conjure them.

I know that as a Catholic you are not required to ask for saint intercession, but why don’t you?

And if you’re a Catholic, wouldn’t you accept those people that the Church canonized as saints to be in heaven?

A séance is a ritual which calls on the souls of the departed to manifest themselves to you and to respond. The spirits of those who have passed on cannot do this. The only spirits responding to a séance are evil spirits - demons, masquerading as your loved ones. This is why this is dangerous and to be avoided. These evil spirits attach themselves to you and will oppress you or even possess you if they can. Demonic oppression is not fun to live with, believe me. I was exorcised, or rather delivered since I wasn’t possessed, to ‘detach’ them but they still come back every now and then to try again, such as my dream the other night.

On the other hand, praying and talking to your deceased grandmother does not try to conjure up her spirit. You are not expecting her to respond; she cannot. It is possible that she can hear you though, through the power of Jesus. We have the example in the parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus where the rich man wants to warn his relatives who are still living that they should amend their ways. The rich man is aware of what is going on with those he loves, but is unable to contact them. The same, if you pray/talk to your deceased grandmother, she will be aware of what you are saying but will not be able to respond to you. It is a one-way communication. Praying and talking to deceased relatives is not dangerous and will not open you to evil spirits since you are not trying to conjure them up.

I have never been involved in a seance; nor will I be. However, I have encountered a few people who have. They confirm your experience and warnings.

Laudetur Jesus Christus!
For those who actually expereinced a real séance:
  1. When you contacted your ancestors how did that experience differ from when you just talk with them and asked them for intercessory prayer?
2 Do you thik those how condemn séances actually don’t have any experience of attending a séance?
3.Do you think people need to experience a séance in order to fully understand what it is all about?
  2. Do you thik that just watching a séance on Youtube can be dangerous?
Seances are trouble you don’t want. When you go fishing for spirits its not what you find that’s worrying, but rather what finds you.
