Greetings!
  1. What kind of things did you do to prepare older sibling for the new baby?my children are 2 1/2 yrs apart…we talked a lot about the baby inside mommy; we showed pictures of when i was pregnant w/ him and when he was born *when he came outside)…we talked about how the baby would drink milk from mommy like he used to, we read a book by Lizzy Rockwell, can’t remember the title, but it was great, he loved it, i paraphrased the book bec it was a lot of text for him, but the pictures were great…he helped me get everything ready, pull the cloth diapers out, wash the car seat, etc…
  2. Any tips on helping older sibling sleep well with baby crying at night? i.e. Did you separate the children? Have hubby stay with the older sibling and wife stay with the newborn? What worked for you?
we cosleep and nurse all night with the baby so he doesn’t really cry that much, DH took over putting DS1 to bed and it has worked fine
    Thanks & God bless!

Greetings!

My husband & I are pregnant with baby #2, who is scheduled to arrive in Feb. '07. Our first son turned 2 this past July. We are preparing for baby as much as we can, and I had a few quick questions for those of you with more than 1 child:
  1. What kind of things did you do to prepare older sibling for the new baby?
  2. Any tips on helping older sibling sleep well with baby crying at night? i.e. Did you separate the children? Have hubby stay with the older sibling and wife stay with the newborn? What worked for you?

I can help with question two…we have four children and my husband and I slept with the new baby to avoid bothering the others. It worked for us and MAN it was much easier breastfeeding.
