Do you (non-Catholics) believe that Christians should be observing the Sabbath on Saturday or celebrating the Lord’s Day on Sunday?
Hi Kalt, What is the meaning of Sabbath. Isn’t it meaning Saturday.Do you (non-Catholics) believe that Christians should be observing the Sabbath on Saturday or celebrating the Lord’s Day on Sunday?
Sabbath, I think, means 7th day, which is Saturday. The Lord’s Day is celebrated on the 8th day, Sunday, which is the day that Christ rose from the dead.Hi Kalt, What is the meaning of Sabbath. Isn’t it meaning Saturday.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Methodist believes that we are meant to be celebrating the Lord’s Day.Sabbath, I think, means 7th day, which is Saturday. The Lord’s Day is celebrated on the 8th day, Sunday, which is the day that Christ rose from the dead.
I’m just wondering what most non-Catholics think Christians should be doing.
If you learned all that in your Sunday School classes as a kid, I wish the Catholic Church had met with your education department to find out how it should be done. I had to learn just about everything on my own, as an adult. I figure the Church owes me some Catechism classes.Your Friendly Neighborhood Methodist believes that we are meant to be celebrating the Lord’s Day.
Anyone who wants to argue for the 7th Sabbath, needs to do a study of the New Testament, where every single one of the 10 Commandments is repeated, except one— “Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy”. Instead, the NT speaks always of the “Lord’s Day”–the celebration of the Resurrection!!
Jesus Christ Himself was and is the Lord of the Sabbath; He changed it through His Resurrection.
(Golly, you really have tolove those Methodist Sunday School Classes).
Hi kalt, I think you mean 6th day and 7th day instead of 7th or 8th days.Sabbath, I think, means 7th day, which is Saturday. The Lord’s Day is celebrated on the 8th day, Sunday, which is the day that Christ rose from the dead.

Actually the Christian Sabbath is not a day of the week per se. It occurs every day for a Christian as long as the day is TODAY. So effectively a Christian has Sabbath on Saturday and Sunday but also Monday through Friday.Do you (non-Catholics) believe that Christians should be observing the Sabbath on Saturday or celebrating the Lord’s Day on Sunday?

Of course that is only if you receive the gospel of salvation totally for Christ’s sake, if you still believe that somehow you need to contribute to your salvation then no day is a Sabbath or Lord’s Day, instead they are simply a yoke of burden. Such as if you thought you needed to observe a law and attend Church every Sunday. Then that is no rest at all but you have put yourself under law and the gospel is in vain concerning you.
You can worship any day, there is not day legislated for it, you should rest from your labors every day.
Hi, But gotta follow God rules not what you think is right. By the way what is “Salvation” means.

Nope. 7th and 8th. Or 7th and 1st. Either way, it’s Sat and Sun.Hi kalt, I think you mean 6th day and 7th day instead of 7th or 8th days.
Wow. So how do we pay our bills and make money to get food on the table?you should rest from your labors every day.
Sabbath means “rest” btw.Sabbath, I think, means 7th day, which is Saturday. The Lord’s Day is celebrated on the 8th day, Sunday, which is the day that Christ rose from the dead.
**Sabbath comes from a Hebrew word meaning “cessation.”
The commandment about “keeping the Sabbath holy” was not about worship–read it! It was about ceasing from work: a cessation that applied even to one’s slaves and farm animals.**
Both of course. If a person does not rest from his works and enter into God’s rest, he is not saved. By resting from his works he observes the true Sabbath on Saturday, the Lord’s Day on Sunday, and every other day of the week is also a holy Sabbath.Do you (non-Catholics) believe that Christians should be observing the Sabbath on Saturday or celebrating the Lord’s Day on Sunday?
Dear Amun,This question has been debated heavily in another thread. You can read it here:

You may want to read from page 6 onward (beginning with my first post) to get a good idea of where both schools of thought stand.
Any teaching that the sabbath has been altered or changed into sunday has been completely debunked. There isn’t a single biblical warrant for such a teaching - in other words, it’s man-made. Furthermore, the ten commandments was never abrogated at the cross or it would be impossible to sin.
And the Lord’s Day is not sunday, that is a baseless and completely unbiblical assertion.
