Saber found a friend :=)

Well…one of our neighbors who has been very into trying to help us find Saber – said they saw him earlier today …with a black cat, walking into the woods… together. AW. LOL I was surprised that he was ‘hanging out’ with another cat, but she thinks that the other is female, and belongs to one of our neighbors. Oh my gosh, if Saber gets her pregnant…hopefully the female is fixed!

This may be the dumbest question ever asked…but can a male cat still ‘mate’ with a fixed female?

I am surprised that Saber is roaming around like this, he always seemed like a rather shy cat.

Anyways–we officially adopted the other kitty, Coco…but we renamed him to “Lucky.” Coco, my son said, didn’t seem masculine enough. So, Lucky is a good pick I think, since we are lucky to have found him, and he us. He is sleeping downstairs on a chair, as I type this…and slept on my dd’s lap ALL NIGHT LONG. I think he is completely exhausted from living outside.

Ok, I need to get a real life now. I have been way too wrapped up in my cat’s life this past week!!! :whacky:

I remember a movie about 101 dogs, but…if your little kitty comes home with a wife and kids and now you have Lucky…you will either have the makings of a new Disney flick or you will be the crazy cat lady

As far as mating goes… In theory a male cat could do the deed with a spayed female but a spayed female isn’t going to come into heat so a male cat is not going to be interested in her. (Well, not in that way, anyhow.) She just isn’t going to smell right and produce all those pheromones that drive the boy cats crazy.

A female in heat will usually want to mate several times over a 7 to 10 day period. After that both she and the males will lose interest. So if this female is in heat there’s a good chance Saber will be wandering home after a week or so. …as long as there aren’t more females.

Yes I think so too–he is a sweet SWEET cat. Like a little baby, he lets you wrap him in a blanket like one. lol Saber never let us do anything of the sort…

I never knew that about cats, thank you for the info…I wonder if I’ll be a grandma soon.

in spring (or earlier) a young male cat’s fancy turns, or even an old male cat. whatya gonno do its true love. maybe these experiences prepare us to be parents of teens and young adults. I think we are all wrapped up in your cat soap this week!

Only if Saber promises to act all shocked and surprised that the kitties could actually be his. And then little girl kitty could stick her paw in his face with an expression saying, “I told you you was the baby daddy.” Maybe throw a chair or two

On a serious note: Get Lucky neutered immediately, or you will have both catfights and territory marking (P-yew!) when Saber comes home. And do Saber as soon as possible.

And the litter box won’t stink quite so badly.

DH has started feeding the “barn cats.” They’re shy, but now can be seen poking their heads out of various hiding places when the cat food bucket gets opened. Now we need to live-trap them and get them fixed… our local HS does feral cats for free, thank the dear Lord!

I don’t want to get attached. One side of our property is on a major truck route. And there are plenty of foxes, coyotes, and raptors round, too.

Hi Ruthie…I’m afraid I don’t have hopes that Saber will return. The sad thing, it’s going down to 30 degrees tonight in Tampa! We moved away from the cold weather, but it’s following us. lol

Anyways…we have decided to buy a kitty tomorrow at a pet store that is pretty reputable around here. Hopefully, that kitty won’t try to escape…!

Raptors are large predatory birds. Eagles and Hawks being the ones most people would recognize.

Please get Lucky fixed as well as you new kitty you are getting from the pet store! It doesn’t cost that much and is well worth it, no sneaking out and not coming home for days for many fixed kitties.

Well, Brenda…believe it or not…the new kitty doesn’t want to come in tonight. I’m thinking that he belongs to someone…he was not hungry at all tonight when we put down food for him. Strange, right? He is sitting on our porch…he might be tentative. So…we want our own cat…and I’m not feeling confident that Saber knows his way back…he never went out, and has no reference point. If he finds his way back, it’ll be a miracle, which I haven’t ruled out. With God, anything is possible…but short of God bringing him home, I just don’t feel it anymore. I have looked around for him high and low…put up fliers…there was a sighting recently like I said, but I can never seem to catch a glimpse of him.

Sigh…so…tomorrow, we’re getting a new kitty…that I can be sure is fixed.
