My daughter will be confirmed later this year, God Willing, I am looking for ways to help her prepare. Here in Ireland children are confirmed at about 12 years old. I want to make sure she understands as best she can and I want to learn more myself. She attends a Catholic school.

Typically, they are asked to memorize the Gifts of the Holy Spirit and the Fruits of the Holy Spirit.

They also learn what each of these things mean, and how to make them real in their own lives.

In some programs, they are also asked to do a certain number of hours of volunteer work.

Help her look through a book of the lives of saints. She should find one to emulate and choose as her patron (confirmation name), if it’s still done over there.

Thank you for the feedback,

She has choosen Joan after Joan of Arc for her Confirmation name after reading about the lives of some saints. A strong role model. I have heard that some parishes have Faith friends so I shall enquire about this. I really want this experience to be one that she understands as much as any child of 11 can and that it becomes a journey deepen into her Faith.
