I don’t think I’ve ever issued a marriage certificate for a couple who had a convalidation. It certainly would not be needed: for legal purposes the civil marriage certificate would be required; for the Church the baptismal certificate with a notation of marriage would be all that is required to prove it happened.

If you really want one you will probably have to ask for it.

Many parishes are no longer giving out certificates for Sacraments, so you may have to ask for one. People have been altering them and using them for other purposes.

I didn’t get a special certificate. I did get an updated copy of my Sacramental record with the details of the Sacrament of Matrimony filled in. That was 25 years ago though.

That would be the best way to document the Marriage.

Thanks everyone! I just needed to ask because the Priest who convalidated our wedding told us we’ll receive the certificate by mail. We were both baptised in the Philippines and given how slow and backlogged most of the church records are, I doubt that they’ll be aware of the convalidation until a couple of years from now.
