What do the various ribbons in the sacramentary signify?
I am a sacristan and our head sacristan prepares the boo , so I am uniformed and hesitant to ask him.

Thank you and I appreciate your help.

I don’t believe the ribbons have any specific meaning other than being an aid to help the priest find his place in the sacramentary for the various prayers and propers for each mass. I’m sure if you surveyed individual priests you would find that each one uses the ribbons of different colors to mark different things. I’m sure all it is is an aid to help you find different things quicker and easier, imagine how difficult it would be to use a book like the sacramentary with five different white markers?

Thank you,Chad, for deciphering my verbiage, a.e.b. uniformed , instead of uninformed.
Well, I can see what you are saying from a practical standpoint…tht there would of necessity be a need for different markers.

Blessings,

Pat
