Unsure If this is allowed But I have a question can A confession be performed in The format of Skye or online platform. The reason for this is we a losing A great priest who is going back to the USA and will be without a Preist for at least 6 months. Asking on Behalf of our 11 year old

Can. 964 §1. The proper place to hear sacramental confessions is a church or oratory. [§2 regards norms for the confessional and does not apply to your question] §3. Confessions are not to be heard outside of a confessional without a just cause. Mabye @edward_george1 could shed more light on this

No. A confession must be done in the physical presence of a priest. It cannot be done over Skype or FaceTime.

I’m so sorry your family will be without a priest for such a long time.

The diocese is responsible for sending a priest or even a couple different ones who will come and celebrate the Sacraments with your parish. I know priests in larger parishes who are “on call” for helping neighbouring parishes with only one priest when there is a need.

our nearest preist will be an hour an half away. We will have cover for masses and funerals but bo cover during the week

Then go during the weekend time. You will have a substitute priest, he will be happy to hear confessions.

Maybe catch him quickly after Mass and ask him.
I’ve done this and they are usually happy to help…
Just a thought

The backup Preist will be saying mass at 5.30pm Saturday 30mins away 9am here in town the has to be in another part of the parish for 11am 45 mins away so there isnt alot of time and our family are work most mornings
