Ha Ben, nice to see a Wisconsin person here. I’m from the Madison area. I don’t live there anymore, though most of my family still does. There are still some nice churches in that diocese to see.

I’ve been to St. Pat’s a few times for Midnight Mass. I enjoy Bishop Morlino.

Really? I usually MC for Bishop at a lot of his regular masses! I was probably there. Bishop Morlino Rocks!

You wouldn’t happen to be someone with the initials MV, would you?

If you want to see something sad this is what the sanctuary of second oldest church in Philadelphia used to look like:

Here is what it looks like now, except that they have since placed the tabernacle in the middle where the priest’s chair is situated in the pic:

It’s not terribly ugly, but it’s just a shame that someone had this brilliant idea of tearing it apart in the 1970s.
Frankly, the element of conformity was not very evident following Vatican II regarding the renovation of the sanctuaries of churches. Overall, it seems each pastor decided what Vatican II called for and enacted those changes in their parish. Thus, we have ornate churches that have not changed much and then others that have experienced a total renovation in their appearance, for better or for worse.

Hi. No. It’s my parish which is the Cathedral for my diocese over here in the US. Westminster Cathedral (I assume you mean the Catholic cathedral in London) looks like this. Although, I did attend mass there often while doing a semester in London, funny enough. haha!

I know what Westminster Cathedral looks like 🙂 I have like a billion pictures of it on my PC! The similarity is absolutely striking! The floor is different, oh and the pews. I am looking for photos of my parish’s sanctuary!

haha! 🙂 If you are at my parish in person, they look nothing alike. My parish was actually modelled after the San Carlo al Corso in Rome. It’s not as ornate - doesn’t have the gold that the San Carlo has and has greenish marble rather than the pinkish red, but the sanctuary is very similar architecturally in terms of the Roman-Corinthian style.
