Hello all! I’m a young man in the military who is married and expecting a child. (At least the home test says so!) I don’t have a lot of extra money but I still wish to have Holy icons in every room. I am a revert to the faith and the house I was brought up in didn’t have any so right now I have only been able to get a small crucifix (which the inscription above Jesus fell off and I cant find) and 2 small statues of Mary. It’s a start, but I’m looking for an inexpensive way to fill my house with icons to remind me of god and his church. So in every room if I’m ever tempted I can look upon an Icon and be reminded of Christ love. Any ideas and suggestions would be appreciated!
God Bless!

If you want a cheaper alternative, a lot of Catholic bookstores sell inexpensive prints, usually including prints of icons as well as other religious art. You can probably find inexpensive but good looking frames to go with them in a dollar shop or something.

I hate to say this, but try Ebay. I have a friend who writes icons. PM me and I’ll pass your request to her. They sell relics which is very offensive.

Take your time in acquiring your collection. Don’t just load up on items just to have them. Make sure you really like what you get. If you are patient you can get some very nice things on Ebay that is more classic than the modern things being produced for sale in the Catholic art world.

I think you mean icons as in statues too, not just the Eastern Icons?

If so, ebay is a good option. If you don’t have a user name already, consider something Catholic-sounding, as some sellers will cancel a transaction if they think you’re not going to use the items in a respectful Catholic manner. You can get some excellent items there.

Also, try garage sales and thrift stores, and a lot of the time Catholic bookstores and retreat centers have some very reasonbly priced things.
