Out of curiosity I did this exercise. You probably all know that Microsoft Word has an autosummarize feature. The way it works is to assign each sentence a score depending on the extent to which it contains the most frequently used words. You can then choose the size of the summary, e.g. 10 words, 20 words, a number of sentences or a percentage of the original. So, here, according to this feature, is the whole Scripture in 10 sentences, 100 words and 500 words. The only version I could find to download the whole of was the King James Version:

10 sentences

Bless ye the LORD.
for thou, Lord GOD, knowest thy servant.
saith thy God.
saith the LORD. saith the LORD.

Fear God.

When the Lord was asked he famously gave the double commandment to love God and neighbour, saying that in this lay all the Law and the Prophets. Yet, this was a summary of the commandments. What strikes me here is:
  1. The emphasis on God’s initative, it is all about the Lord speaking to us
  2. The most common noun in the Scripture is the divine name, the tettragamon, rendered in English as LORD. In this name, “I am He who is”, we see a statement about the nature of reality, the metaphysical foundation of our faith, all Being comes from Him and returns to Him.
  3. Our response is to praise- to live our lives as a song, as St Augustine puts it
  4. The lament over Chorazin and Bethsaida is also a very typical sentence in the Scriptures. A judgement falls on persons in particular places and times who have failed to respond to the gift of Being and God’s communication and self-donation in the Covenant in Jesus.
  5. Therefore, we are called to ‘fear’ God, to recognize and live the reality that He is the only sure foundation on which we can stand, the Ground of our Being
What strikes you all?

Sounds like a) God speaks through the Bible b) Moses and Aaron were important to Him b) our main raison d’etre is to praise Him. Sounds about right 😃
