*A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful, who with the veneration due the divine word make a spiritual reading from Sacred Scripture. *

A plenary indulgence is granted, if this reading is continued for at least one half an hour.

Firstly what is the difference between reading with veneration and reading without it.

Secondly, does the half an hour have to be in one block or could it literally be 3x10 minutes?

Thanks.

It must be a consecutive 30 minutes. I trust that the wording with veneration applies to the intention of the heart to ponder upon the Sacred Scriptures one is reading. I doubt that it means that one may just read the words scantily and think that it would be pleasing to God. We always give reverence and veneration to the Word of God.

I doubt it, since your intent was to fulfill the requirement of a half hour. You can resume the last five minutes when you finish. IOW, we don’t do ten minutes in the morning, ten more at noon, and ten at night. That is completely broken and the intent is not in accord with the grant requirement.
