In the sermon for Sunday, Father emphasized that for some people there is sacredness on Sunday.
However the other six days are only secular.
He also declared that sacredness has to go beyond Sunday.

I agree, God should be a part of all parts of our life every day of the week… family, work, leisure… God is always #1. Sunday though is the supreme day to make sure we give the Lord extra time. Without having to work on Sunday it makes it easier to keep our minds and hearts on God.

It depends on what is meant by “sacred”.

Words like “sacred” and “holy” are usually understood to refer to “good” things or things that have to do with God and religion. Used in that respect, we would want that for every moment of our lives, Sundays and weekdays. We don’t want to have any days be devoid of God and/or religion.

That is no doubt what your priest means.

But the words “sacred” and “holy” also have the meaning of “set apart”. While we certainly want to give our entire lives to God it doesn’t entirely make sense to expect weekdays to be set apart the way Sundays are. Sundays are supposed to be “extra-set-apart” from the other days of the week.

I believe that we should honor God on all days and everyday is a blessing, but God set apart Sunday especially as a day to especially honor God and keep it Holy… That is the third Commandment. If it wasn’t’ special, it would not be made a specific commandment. The Lords Day is not used for any other purpose so it gives us rest from the things that are going on in the secular world and turns our attention to God. So it recharges us. The Sabbath was meant for man Mark 2:27. We specifically honor Our Lord at mass and in service and prayer on the Lords Day separating it out from any other day. On the other days of the week the things that are happening in the secular world can distract us from focusing our attention to God. Maybe that’s what the Priest meant. .

I think he was touching on a common theme with homilies these days and that is that we are not to be Catholics on Sundays only. Which is fine. But in our family, Mondays have adoration and Fridays are penitential.

We are called to serve one another.
We are called to serve one another not just on Sunday.
The week has six other days to perform the will of God.
