Sacremental wine during Prohibition

Yes. There was legal paperwork involved to ensure it was being purchased by churches and used for sacramental purposes. I suspect a number of the wine bottles developed some “leaks” along the way.
 
Thanks! Glass is pretty fragile and the roads must have been quite bumpy back then.
 
Anyone who drinks the average sacramental wine for pleasure is a sad old drunk indeed.
 
What’s the typical alcohol content in sacramental wine?
I’m not sure…but it’s basically close to regular wine, as some alcoholic priests do get permission to use mustum instead. Cardinal Ratzinger describes its use here:

I’ve been at churches where it was tasty, and others where I didn’t care for it so much. But then, it’s just a sip! 😉
