I know that some non catholics have the misconseption that the sacrifice of the mass is a killing of Christ again. Does anyone know of any good articles or books or something that I could point to clearify what the sacrife of the Mass is? Thanks and God bless.

I recommend Scott Hahn’s The Lamb’s Supper. It’s the book that first made me realize the significance and necessity of the mass as sacrifice.

The articles people have given are probably among the best for ‘pointing to’.

‘Not by Bread Alone’ by Sungenis is excellent on the sacrifice of the mass. But it’s long and reasonably hard work to read. And probably needs reading 3 times and thinking about a lot digesting it before it can be fully used for ‘pointing to’.

The following is I believe theology correct and a very straight forward and simple answer:

First, one needs to consider what is a difference between the Jewish sacrifices, and Christ’s Sacrifice on the Cross?–why is it that there is no man which can offer is life in sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins? It all boils down to the fact that Christ Jesus is God incarnate, that God paid the eternal debt of sin which is death. Christ Jesus being God is outside of time, He is Eternal.

It therefore follows that Christ’s Sacrifice on the Cross even though it is a one time event is an Eternal Sacrifice being ever present for all Time extending to the begining of time and to the end of time, the end of the ages.
