In saint Paul’s writings, he talks about offering up the people as a spiritual sacrifice, and if you read what he says carefully – our priesthood consists in offering ourselves through our actions to God.
My good friend Mrs. Bissonnette, gave me some advice on sacrifices I could make to help my wife – things that were painful to me but which attempted to ease tensions with my wife and family. Peace offerings if you will, although I did not want to do them.
From the CCC, #901 – Hence the laity, dedicated as they are to Christ and anointed by the Holy Spirit, are marvellously called and prepared so that even richer fruits of the Spirit may be produced in them, For all their works, prayers, and apostolic undertakings, family and married life, daily work, relaxation of mind and body, if they are accomplished in the Spirit – indeed even the hardships of life if patiently born – all these become spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
Perhaps you are not the one to set the table? then set the table, like it or not, and offer a prayer to God for those in need of his Grace. Perhaps there are other things you can do to love your neighbor – all these actions are sacrifices when accomplished for the love of God.
Blessings to you.
