I don’t know what to think these days. So much corruption in the U.S. senate, our court rooms, our schools not to mention the overall morale of this nation. I also think that Christianity in general is morally corrupt! Sinful pastors committing adultery, molesting innocent children, teaching things that are heretical. Where’s an inquisition when you need one?! Not to mention I see so many Protestants, Jews and Catholics living like pagans. It’s quite frankly an embarrassment. I cry every night before I go to bed. I can only imagine what the reaction of the Apostles would be if they saw Christianity and the state that it’s in now!!! Shameful. Sometimes I think, “Am I the only one here?” Our society is paganistic, atheistic and materialistic. Just think of the scandal it brings on our brothers and sisters in the Middle East. No wonder they hate us so much.

And we are being threatened by Islamic invasion as well. Churches like those in the Vatican, Vienna, Paris, London and even those here in the U.S. will be turned into mosques before you know it. So many of our pastors have listened to the Devil. Our Lord promised us that the gates of Hell would not prevail against His holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. Pope John Paul II of immortal memory said, that “war is Satan”. By prayer and fasting we can mitigate wars and end wars. We need to pray for the Pope, bishops and priests.
Hi Bones, I know what you mean, man. Just hold on to your faith, we’re all in this together. The world IS going to reject us, because we love Christ, but we are all here on a journey until we reach Him face to face. Be at peace, there are good times and bad, but stay the journey 🙂

No it doesn’t give validity to other religions so much as it teaches how we are to treat those who belong to other religions.

The Old days of scorning those who are not Catholic, should never return.
+1 Screaming, HERETIC!!! and whacking 'em over the head was counter-productive, figuratively speaking, with hyperbole. That document doesn’t affirm the other religions.

Don’t sweat this stuff so much. What can you or I do, right now, other than work on our own lives, and those close to us? I see God at work by watching the little grains of sand you see being pushed along down a small stream. One grain of sand at a time, and entire mountain ranges disappear.

It babbles about modernist things like “mutual understanding” and suggests salvation is part of the plan for Judaism and Islam. It takes emphasis off of conversion.

Islam, Judaism, paganism, etc. are all false religions, I’d rather not hold “mutual understanding” sessions with them!
Show me. We are to treat others the way Christ would treat us. Not throw bile and vituperation on other people’s beliefs.

Ty. I think that given the circumstances of our times, our society is ripe for a minor chastisement that’s spoken of by so many approved mystics and visionaries of the Church.

Consider this. The Protestant reformation began in 1517 or so right? The chastisement for the Orthodox began in 1917 almost 400 yrs later! 90 years after Fatima, Europe is in danger of loosing their Christian heritage! 490 years after 1517 with the Protestant Reformation the chastisement for us is about to begin as well.

Of course we can and ought to treat everyone decently. Christ did not bad mouth individuals. As both Catholics and humans we have an obligation to be kind to every individual, regardless of their faith.

However, why must we treat false religions themselves with respect? Why does a religion that has a false prophet and a command to slay all non-believers deserve my respect? Why does a religion that rejects the Messaih and idolizes a book that degrades Him deserve my respect? Why does a religion that has mutliple stone dieties deserve my respect?

And I’ll be back with some examples.

Which shows you didn’t read the document.
Why does a religion that has a false prophet and a command to slay all non-believers deserve my respect?
Allah is not mentioned in Nostra Aetate nor in the Catechism.
Why does a religion that rejects the Messaih and idolizes a book that degrades Him deserve my respect?
Judaism may be corrupt and that’s true about the Talmud but Nostra Aetate doesn’t reverse that at all.
Why does a religion that has mutliple stone dieties deserve my respect?
Nostra Aetate doesn’t reverse the fact that Judaism, Islam are false religions. But there’s some truth in them.
