Well, I’ll try for you, but I don’t speak “Σταυρον”. I wouldn’t know what to say if I saw it.
I speak as I hear, since I read the Bible, I hear “cross” quite often.
No it doesn’t, your choosen translation of the bible says “cross” quite often. If you’re going to insist on only using terminology used in the bible you should learn Greek.

You are correct, that is the one I reffered to and wished to post a pic of.

Thank you for posting it for me, and correcting my spelling on it. It is spelled correctly in my memory from the first time seeing it in print though. Maybe one day I will see the work in person.
I’m confused to what you are saying here. Strawberry Jam is referring to the Pieta:

The Sign of the Cross is when Catholics say “In the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit” by crossing themselves thus affirming the Trinity and Christ’s sacrifice at the same time; it also serves as a reminder to one’s baptismal promises which is why you see Catholic sign themselves at a holy water font in the Church.

I’ve never heard of the Way of Cross but the Stations of the Cross are a reminder of Christ’s sacrifice wherein Catholics, during Lent on Friday, recall each station of Our Lord’s suffering for us.

If you’d like to make a thread about Marian devotion, you are welcome to do so. I’d encourage you to read more about Catholicism as well.

Man bro you sure speak your mind about people…Hope your right…You know we’ll give account for our word, deeds, thoughts attitudes ect…Right
I try to speak honestly and openly. I have been a Christian all my life and I don’t need you to tell me who I will answer to for it.

No problem, I’m just surprised at some of the things you say about or to other believers…I guess to me it isn’t edifying, uplifting or seasoned with grace…Sorry if you took offense as it wasn’t meant to be offensive.

I learned of all the sacraments, patriarchs, and rituals, but never learned of His love.
I am going to snipe one of your post, Rocket-Man. From all these time as a former, Catholic you never learned of his love. You want to know God’s love! Look at the Crucifix CAREFULLY. That is Jesus love for us that he literally shed his blood for our sins. The cross is sacrifice that Jesus made for us. If you never got it when you were Catholic, then perhaps you were never fully catechized. In fact, I bet the majority of Ex-Catholics were poorly catechized. Once they say, “I never knew Jesus as a Catholic until I read the Bible…” or whatever excuse you have you never knew Jesus period.

The Baltimore Catechism which predates the Catechism explains why God created us. It states the question.

Why did God created you?

God created us so that we may know him, love him, serve him, and be happily with him in heaven forever.

Now, after all those years as Catholic, you never taught this? Perhaps, you were just passing through the motions and not pay attention at all. Perhaps, what the catechist taught you went out the other ear and YOU never put it in your heart to be FAITHFUL Catholic.

Surprised at what? That I challenged your motives?
Insisting that our crucifix is a “stickman” isn’t very edifying or seasoned with Christian charity either. Some of my brothers and sisters here on this thread have turned the other cheek, and our Lord will bless them for it. Others including myself chose to defend that important symbol of our faith and you don’t like it because I questioned the motives for insulting it. The poster that called it a “stickman” could have used a more charitable way of describing it and would have if he/she were truly speaking with Christian charity.

Hey were all rough around the edges…But attack the argument as you see it and not the person…I read that and thought the picture was like a stick figure like drawing…Hey only You and the Lord know your heart attitude.I Just see words used and it seems they are towards the person and not the argument…I don’t want to keep hashing this over…I just call em as I saw em…peace to you

I don’t recall attacking anyone. I took issue with what was said, and because of what was said I questioned the motive. The word “stickman” was used to describe what was known to you to be a Christian symbol. That is what I “attacked”

What I see is your over reaction to protect a symbol and the Catholic word used to call the symbol. My indignation was rather focused on elevating Jesus Christ as Lord, even over those who also had been placed on the calander. It doesn’t make logical sense that I would write to uplift Christ as Savior, then defame Him with words in the manner you suggest.

Two or three times now I have explained how my phrase was used to describe the vague appearace of the symbol compared to the other images. Your interpresting what I wrote out of context with everything else I wrote.

It wouldn’t make sense if you believed that the crucifix was a valid Christian symbol. But if your intention was to criticize the faith by degrading that symbol then it makes perfect sense. That is why I questioned your motives for using the term.

You have been walking all around it for a while. But if you had accepted the crucifix as a legitimate Christian symbol then you would have apologized for offending your Catholic brothers and sisters. If not, then my suspicions are correct.

Listen, no doubt that you are knowledgeable with Church history. But I still don’t think you can read a paragraph in context, not in this case at least.

You know, this debate leads me to think of those that Jesus had with the Pharisees. His words were always from the heart . They on the otherhand were always trying to catch Him in a trap.

Caramel is long gone to protect this little thread and lecture those that have gone astray. but you guys are far removed from the OP.

My thoughts and words I used and the feelings I shared were as genuine as the Lord Himself. Even in the original report about the calander.

For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him: And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things He might have the preeminence. For it pleased the Father that in Him should all fullness dwell; And, having made peace through the blood of His cross, by Him to reconcile all things unto himself; by Him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off. And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.

And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

It doesn’t make sense yet that’s what you’ve done. There is absolutely no reason you could not have said “crucifix”, everyone would have known exactly what you meant. Your only defense has been that “crucifix” is not used in the bible, and as I have told you, cross isn’t in the bible either. You’ve been told your language has been found insulting, but rather than accept that you continue to argue it and say people are getting upset over nothing. It would be much the same as if I used the term “crazies” to refer to non-traditional protestants. I’m sure you wouldn’t like that, so out of respect we don’t use such language. We expect the same respect from you. Don’t demean the symbols of the Church,
