As Haloween (I like to call it the Eve of Hallows:D ) is coming, more horror movies are being seen. I like horror movies like the Exocist and the Sixth Sense, but I lot of my friends like the sick stuff like the Saw series (about a maniac named Jigsaw who kidnaps people and subjects them to graphically filmed torturres to see how far they will go to stay alive:eek:   ). I think these movies are just sick. Does the Church have anything on them, and what are your thoughts?

I don’t think we need a papal encyclical to figure that one out!

Let’s consider it from natural reasoning, for a moment. We go to great lengths to avoid putting harmful foods or medicines in our body. Why? Because of the damage these foul or tainted things do to our flesh.

How much more should we be concerned about our spiritual self when we “feed” on things harmful to our mental and spiritual well being.

As a final check, ask yourself, would I be comfortable inviting the Lord to sit on the couch next to me and watch this?

Paul

I hate torture porn movies. I haven’t watched any of them. Lionsgate is the king of torture porn.

In the case of my fellow Catholics:

If you are a moral, practicing Catholics, they are certainly sick movies.

But if you’re a sadistic Catholic raised by the church and faith (i.e. Catholic school) like me ;), you are completely in love with such movies. 😃 My absolute favorite is Tim Burton’s “Sweeney Todd” 👍

Ironically Yours, Blade and Blood

Do you enjoy being sadistic? You don’t have to remain that way, you know. There really is a better way to live.

Oh relax, I’m just a teenager. It’s just a phase; I’ll grow out of it. 😉 And if not, than I will learn to control it… not that I can’t control it now. 🙂

“You are young, my son, and, as the years go by, time will change and even reverse many of your present opinions. Refrain therefore awhile from setting yourself up as a judge of the highest matters.”

Plato, Dialogues, Theatetus

Love, cherish, and (ultimately) understand the quote! Plato’s cool. 😉

BTW, I know it’s a quote, but it’s only fair to say that I’m a girl. 😃

I Love “Sweeney Todd”! I went to Catholic school too.😃

you must never, ever see anything by ELI ROTH. forget you heard the name ELI ROTH. ELI ROTH made unmentionable movies like HOSTEL and HOSTEL 2.

also, never visit the website www.aintitcool.com, which is run by movie geeks with a love of, among other things, ELI ROTH and movies that you must never see, much less learn of their existence.

If you are versed in Plato, I suspect you will turn out alright, Miss Blade and Blood. By the way, if you enjoy Plato, I highly recommend Augustine.
