I’m in the UK too. I’m listening to the wind and rain outside and not looking forward to tomorrow’s journey to Mass. We might have to hitch a ride with Noah at this rate!

You can always watch the Mass online or on EWTN!!! It’s better to stay safe. 🙂

Those are great things to do if one can’t make it to Mass, but none of them are required.

Posting this in the event your phrasing might give someone the wrong impression.

If you still decide not to go, Mass is shown on TV usually on a local TV station and several times a day on the station EWTN
This was my first thought too. Stay home, be safe and celebrate mass through the blessing of televised liturgy!

Oh, my! That reminds me of a very snowy January a few years ago, when I was braving the elements driving to church. I could barely see the road ahead of me, and I certainly couldn’t see our usual turnouts.

This very rude semi driver came barreling up behind me (I was driving slower than usually, because it was icy, and because of the poor visibility), and he kept tooting his horn. When I finally came to a divided lane, I pulled over into the right lane, and he passed me so closely he almost side-swiped me, and tooted his horn again as he was alongside of me.

When he was finally out in front, I could see he wasn’t even pulling a trailer! What was his huge hurry? He didn’t have a load to deliver, unless he was going to pick one up – on a SUNDAY?

I arrived at church safely, but my nerves were frazzled.

I was always told, as a kid, that truck drivers are particularly courteous. Not in my area! They’re as rude as can be, and they have caused many fatal accidents because of their rudeness (and have gotten away with it!)

I looked and they are expecting guests as high as 100 mph. I would not go to Mass.

The obligation is lifted if you can not make it, so don’t worry that you are committing a sin by not going.

Wow.

No: If the official weather warning includes the words “danger to life” twice, then I’m gonna go ahead and suggest this counts as valid reason to miss Mass. Maybe call your parish office if you’re not certain, but I can’t see how, if your travel would take you through an area that literally puts you at “danger to life from flying debris”, they’d say “Nah come anyway, on penalty of sin.”

you are pregnant and planning to go out in the storm alone using public transportation. It is not just a danger for yourself but also for your baby. If you still have doubts call your priest but I think this is one of the cases in which you need to use prudential judgement. Ps remember that when you are pregnant traumatic injuries are more challenging to treat and often fatal for the fetus.

Yes, I totally agree. The bulletin literally says that there is a “danger to life.” Plus, you’re pregnant and traveling alone. I would just stay home. God understands that it would not be safe to go out tomorrow.

May God bless you and grant you His peace as you welcome your new child! 🙂

Yep.
Agreeing a hundred times.
Be safe

There are yellow and orange warnings at the moment meaning flooding and disruption to public transport services. The public transport means that you are and your baby are heavily reliant on. Worse if you need to catch two buses. Network rail speed has been dropped down to 50mph, with risk of overhead lines and tracks being covered with debris.

Warnings of Gale force winds, large waves (if your trip is coastal) flooding (and there has been serious flooding in the UK over the past couple of years).

If you feel unsafe, vulnerable and unsettled, do not go because you have a little one to care for too.

Could you possibly consider a Sunday evening Mass? or as others have stated watching or listening to ETWN or live broadcast on Y-Tube - hopefully the power will remain on.

I don’t have the link to ETWN Sunday Mass, though I think it starts at 12pm your time. Could some one who uses ETWN regularly please post the ETWN mass link for halogirl to use if she requires it.

These are from online, I have my own photos very similar of waves hitting these buildings - the waves I witnessed (from safety) went over the houses and into the back yards.

Keep well and safe Halogirl.

And I wrote that the litmus test was whether your pastor or the police would have “serious concern for your safety if they saw you out and about,” whereas you wrote, “I would go even if it was not safe.” Yes, you wrote “use prudence” but that seems to mean it must be OK if you can find someone else to drive?

I think that’s where you had us confused?
