Safe to have baby in the crib?

My grandson has reflux as well as a milk allergy. He slept in an inclined sleeper in the parents bedroom until about 4 months. Then they bought a wedge ( recommended by Dr.) and put it in the crib. It has a holder on it that straps him in so he doesn’t roll over. They were worried about the transition, but he then started sleeping thru the night! He loves it…although it looks uncomfortable to me… It was a bit pricey…about $250, but worth it to them.

Good luck & God Bless!

How are you going to try?
I didn’t know how I was going to do that, but all of a sudden the last 2 nights he’s slept for over 7hours straight!!! Grace of God!!!

Dr only wants to medicate more, but I’d rather keep him inclined for a few more months and see if he grows out of it.

Thanks for the tips.

Honestly, this isn’t really the best place to be asking this kind of question. Your pediatrician will be the best person to tell you what the safest sleeping arrangement is for your baby, especially when your baby has extra considerations like acid-reflux. Utilizing recommendations found online can sometimes lead to very dangerous results. Online posters do not know your child and their medical history (and the most current data on child safety) like your pediatrician does.
I think this is a perfectly fine place to be asking others if they’ve experienced this before and if there’s any tips or tricks parents learn.

I made if very clear he was seeing a dr and that I was also taking him the next day.

Is the question - “I think it’s safe to have baby in the crib, can you all confirm this?” or is it “I’m not sure baby is ready to go into the crib but I am looking for alternative solutions to cosleeping?”.

I think you as the mother probably can gague your baby’s ability to roll over and move himself around best. Does he move like a newborn or is he more robust already? I would say three months is around the time that most babies transition to being able to sleep in a crib safely, so there’s a good chance that he’s not quite ready yet but there’s also a good chance that he has recently developed enough to be ready.

If you’re not sure, I’d say wait it out another couple of weeks until you can feel confident that he’s able to easily move his face out of harm’s way if needed.

Ha ha, because you said he COULDN’T do it, he did it!

😃
Get used to THAT! My kids hated peas…that is, until their favorite aunt made them, and I’d already told her that they didn’t like them.

OP, Congrats on your new baby!

Is there a way you could get a portable crib for your bedroom?

My kids were healthy babies, but they did sleep on their stomachs. I can’t remember a time when they got stuck.

My second child had similar reflex problems. I needed sleep so we transitioned him to the crib at 3 weeks. Despite my fear of the tummy sleeping, I put him on his to to sleep because that was the only way he would sleep. He couldn’t turn over yet, but never wanted to be his back anyway. Do you have a monitor? I think you should try it for a night and keep the monitor close. You’ll know and feel more comfortable after the first night.
