My pope is here. I’ve been watching the whole thing on FOX. I am so glad that I am a Catholic!!!:extrahappy: :bounce:

👍 :highprayer:
Fine, I’m glad to be a Protestant …
and above all I’m glad to be a CHRISTIAN ( I was an atheist before … )

Well, going from an atheist to a Protestant means you’re half way there. 😃

I don’t think so … remember what I said about all the things I could associate myself with when I go to a Catholic Mass ? Your answers rather discouraged me from …continuing to attend Masses …:crying:

I thank God that the answers I got from other Catholics ( for instance Guanophore ) encourage me to go on …

but I must admit that at this precise moment I am quite puzzled about it all …

Maybe I’ll have to reconsider some things… anyway I want to take time before going there again ( except if someone invites me for a special occasion like a wedding for instance … )

My friend, that is the lamest excuse I ever heard, that I keep you from the Catholic church. Shame on you for blaming others for your reasons not to want to even go to Mass. No one can make or not make you go to Mass, it needs to come from within.

Cranky, grizzly, off-putting Catholics are part of the “test.”

If you want Jesus bad enough, you will (hopefully) see past the debris and slog your way through to the Center. The Catholic Church is not a ‘club’ that admits only nice guys. (Ain’t THAT the TRUTH!) Thank God, or they would not have taken me in the door.

One of the things “insiders” don’t realize is how offensive it is when they disparage doubts and label every question as spiritual pride.

OK. Two thirds of what keeps people away may BE pride, but they experience it as something else, such as truth (as they see it) or difficulty based on their training, or the prejudice they grow up with. I myself cut my teeth on the teaching that the Catholic Church is the Whore of Babylon and the synagogue of Satan. :bigyikes:

It may seem the lamest excuse you’ve heard, when I told you I went to Mass your answer made me think I was doing something wrong, as if it was forbidden for Protestants to go to Mass, that’s why I said I would have to think it over before going again, I didn’t mean I would never go there again …

When I said I go to Mass it seemed to shock some Catholics on the forum, that’s why I don’t know what to do at the moment …
as if I was committing some kind of sacrilege merely by attending …and I don’t want to…( commit sacrilege or something that could be considered as such … )
If you can find it again, please read again the message I wrote, in which I said all the things I fully associated myself with when going to Mass and tell me : am I doing something forbidden ? ( by the Catholic church ? ) your honest answer would help me to decide …

As for “not EVEN wanting to go to Mass” … since in France everybody has a lot of Catholic friends, even atheists, you know what ? When I attended my first Protestant service I had already been to Catholic Masses several times …

by the way, in a message ( I don’t remember where ) somebody spoke of “sedevacantists”, so it seems the word also exists in English …😛

When I see that kind of teaching on Protestant forums or blogs ( that the Catholic Church is the whore of Babylon and so on … ) I react very strongly because I don’t believe it and I find it unacceptable, for this I’ve even been banned from two Protestant forums …
so when some Catholics on THIS forum seem to be continuing with me an argument with some Protestants who said that, it is difficult for me to bear, sorry …
I don’t see it as part of a test, but it is rather discouraging for me ; I come from an atheist background and because of this by becoming a Protestant I also feel closer to Catholics, and some assertions really discourage me …

Praise the Lord that He is in your life. Are you following the live mass in Washington DC right now?

No : when I post on forums I’m not at home … so I can’t watch TV at the same time …
I go to places where you pay to use the Internet, I don’t know what you call them in English …
Thank you for your very encouraging message …
Yesterday on the news programme I saw that some people sang “Happy Birthday” to the Pope, I didn’t know it was his birthday yesterday, I liked this… “happy birthday dear Benedict” …( I suppose they sang that, since there were comments we didn’t hear well what was said … )

oh, I think someone call it “Internet Cafe”. I am currently watching the live show on internet through a link on yahoo.com. I think you can watch it on internet unless the place block the site.

yeah, I just talked to my co-worker that He’s turned 81 since yesterday and he is still strong and with God’s help, he is able to do the job as a Pope.

Um. Internet complications. That’s why I put the  on that. It was a joke. Not a very good one.

I Know what you mean.

In French we also say “Internet Café”, but I don’t know why : there’s no coffee sold there … it isn’t a place where you can have a drink, or sometimes you just have a coffee machine …

Well I hope for YOU he’s able to do his job as a Pope, otherwise the situation would become very delicate … anyway he seems in good health …
He speaks French very well, I’ve already heard interviews of him, he just has a very very slight German accent, quite charming … waow, I must be careful, I’m a woman you know, if I fall in love with him … it’s going to be quite complicated since he can’t marry 😛 and moreover I’m a Protestant …🙂

Thanks a lot …
I wouldn’t say your joke was not good, you couldn’t know where I post from …

Your English is like that of a native speaker. Outstanding.

Pope Benedict’s English is very good also. Accent a little thick but he is perfectly fluent. I love his Latin. A little trace of German accent. Cute, cute, cute.

Well I suppose I do make some mistakes in English, but … native speakers do too … ( French native speakers also make some mistakes in French … )
I know the pope speaks English, that’s why I was surprised, watching the news, to hear that at the UNO he spoke in …French !!! Is there a special reason for that ? ( UNO rules or something of that kind ??? or was it a choice of his but I don’t understand why he would have chosen to speak in French … )

“cute cute cute”, be careful not to fall in love with him, must I remind you that he can’t marry ? 😃

Go on entertaining us then !!!:rotfl:
Well try to do so. I was troubled by reading your post that one or two of the post have comments that may discourage your attending the Mass. Please do not let that happen. For even if you were to nerve come to the Catholic Faith it is my belief that one receives a special Blessing in just attending and praying the Mass and I would hate to think that anyone would allow people on an internet forum to deprive them of That or any Blessings.

May God smile upon you this Day and bless you.

Don’t be fooled by this man not wanting to go to Mass b/c some people “posted” things he did not like. Well, if everything I heard about my Catholic faith were true, I’d never be in church.
People cannot not make you go to church Hugenot, it comes from within. If you truly yearn for it, nothing can stop you. so don’t use others as an excuse.

Were I can agree with you. I also know that If A person have a belief in God and already an active member of one faith The words and action of member of another faith could discourage the exploration of that faith no matter how interested you may be. And if a person is going to Mass is not Catholic it would take just a few ill chosen words from someone to convince them that they are wasting their time in even going at all. The same can be said for the Catholic that has fallen way from the Church. I for one pray that when speaking to members of other faiths that my words never put up a barrier between them and the Catholic church, but hopeful give reason for if nothing more a reason to continue to explore it.

In fact from these comments I don’t know if it is OK to go to Mass for a non-Catholic or if by attending I’m doing something wrong in itself…
Moreover, since it puzzled me, if you’ve read my message to the end you will see that I said I’d think things over “before going there” again, so my intention is not : not to go to Mass anymore, but if I do something with the Catholics I’ve got to be sure it’s OK, I don’t want to do it superficially or half-heartedly, so I think that now I need some time before going again ( but in my message I also precised that if somebody invited me for a special occasion I would go anyway, even if I haven’t done away with all the doubts some of the answers to my messages caused … )
