I came across a Saint Constantine and St Helen Orthodox church parish. I heard Constantine was baptized by an Arian bishop though. So do Orthodox and/or Eastern Catholics view him as a saint and if so, how do they justify this? I’m sure no saint was perfect but if they ended their life in a heretical group wouldn’t this nullify someone being labeled a saint?

I believe the EO hold him to be a saint (maybe a leftover from Caesaropapism?) I’m not sure what his status is in uniate churches. He is not a canonized saint in the Latin Catholic Church, I believe Helen is though.

From what I know, Constantine was against Arianism (hence the Council of Nicea), but when he wanted to be baptized, the bishop happened to be Arian. So it is more of a sad irony than him being part of a heretical group.
