Saint Constantine?

Where can I find an official list of “Catholic” saints? Including saints in the “Eastern Catholic Church.” By the way, is Constantine the Great an official Saint?

With regard to the second question, Constantine is commemorated as a saint ony in Eastern-rite Chuches. Now as I understand it, that means he is a saint in the universal Church, though his memory is only celebrated in the Eastern churches.

I am most certain that Constantine is not a saint. In order to be a Saint you have to be canonized- via the Roman Pontiff- the Pope i believe. If I am in error may an apologist quickly correct me!

His mother, however, is a Saint. You can pray to her for her intercession. She is the one who had the true cross Jesus was crucified on discovered.

I think the confusion of Constantine being a “Saint” comes from the Orthodox.

This is only really for Modern Saints and Saints recognised by the West. You need to do research into how early saints were “canonized” because this assumption is incorrect as the process of Canonization of Saints has changed over time and become more restrictive. He is a saint in the Catholic Church but not recognised in the Roman Catholic Church because he is a Saint in only the Eastern Catholic Churches.

You do not have to have been canonised by the Papacy to be a Saint in the Catholic Church because it doesn’t only consist of the Latin traditions.

We as Roman Catholics are not obliged to recognise the Eastern Saints because Rome, our Primate church, has not deciphered their Saintly status and set a feast date. Nevertheless they have been recognised as Saints by the Eastern wings of the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. Therefore they are in fact Saints.

St.Constantine is commemorated in the Melkite Church on 21 May, along with his mother.
