I have seldom heard or validated if this saint is an actual church approved saint.

I would ask the same regarding this prayer?

Saint Expedite, you lay in rest.

I come to you and ask that this wish be granted.

(Mention you urgent request)

Saint Expedite now what I ask of you. Saint Expedite now what I want of you, this very second.

Don’t waste another day. Grant me what I ask for.

I know your power, I know you because of your work. I know you can help me.

Do this for me and I will spread your name with love and honor so that it will be invoked again and again.

Expedite this wish with speed, love, honor, and goodness. Glory to you, Saint Expedite!

Yes, Saint Expeditus is a real saint, though some will say he’s just a myth.

About this prayer, where have you found it?
As far as I know his name in English is Expeditus not Expedite, the form used by non-Catholics when “invoking” him in syncretic rituals.

Saint Expeditus is a traditionally venerated martyr who was a Roman soldier, which was the original meaning of the word “Expeditus”. His real name may or may not have been “Expeditus” but a martyr fitting the description likely did exist. He has been venerated since at least the Middle Ages.

However, this “prayer” that you found is a lot of superstitious hooey. Someone praying sincerely to a saint would not address him in that way like you’re ordering him to grant you a wish and hurry up about it. He’s a saint, not a genie, and God is the one who ultimately will grant or not grant.

So bottom line: It’s okay to pray for St. Expeditus’ help but I would not use that prayer.

I couldn’t have said it better myself.
But the thing is, I’m trying to find for the OP some good and reliable Catholic prayers but I keep stumbling in a bunch of mumbo jumbo about St. Expeditus, so I would say that it ain’t that easy to find a real Catholic prayer to him.

In some Latin American countries there are numerous parishes dedicated to St. Expeditus, and his feast day, April 19, is quite widely celebrated, sometimes with street processions. The prayer you quote here may not be an exact translation of one that is in common use in Brazil and elsewhere, but it’s very close, and I believe it is duly authorized by the Church.

The name Expeditus means “quick” or “prompt,” as in the English word expeditious. He is customarily depicted dressed as a Roman soldier, holding aloft a cross that bears the Latin word “Hodie” (“today”) and trampling underfoot the word “Cras” (“tomorrow”). In other words, he is the saint who gets the job done now, without wasting time.

The prayer itself did seem disturbing/off to me.

I was searching for a patron of quick answers desperate causes. Of course St. Jude and Rita came up, but then I stumbled on this. Little seems to be known.

Would he be the patron saint of UPS or FedEx? It doesn’t seem right that they could both claim him. 🤔

I have a friend that says a similar prayer but with a promise to dance for St Expedite when a lost object is found.

The prayer posted by sancte_trinitatus is a fine prayer.

As someone else said I’m aware that St. Expedite is a favorite of voodoo cults in certain parts of the world. St. Jude is also.
It’s good to be extra careful in properly asking these saints for their intercession, both to be respectful of the saint and God, and to avoid giving the wrong impression to any non-Catholics who might be watching all this.

I didn’t know that St Expedite was helping St Anthony until my friend told me You are the one who is supposed to dance for the saint if/when the lost item is found.

Oh my. I’m pretty sure St. Anthony or St. Expedite would not want to see me dancing. I was born with 2 left feet, and those are on my arms.
