I want to give up drinking entirely, I rely on it to keep me calm and happy and I go overboard and make bad decisions. I need to stop. Please pray for me that I have the strength to overcome. Also is there a Saint that I can ask for intersession? I’ve read some conflicting answers on who I might ask for intercession for alcohol dependency. Thank you, Benedicite.

Praying to St. Maximillian Kolbe for you to overcome your temptations.

Venerable Matt Talbot, pray for SJBurgess that he may come to the same conversion of heart you did that allowed you the grace to set aside the bottle and take up the cross.

I ask this through Christ, our Lord, Amen.

Wikipedia says St. Martin of Tours is the patron saint against alcoholism and St. Bibiana is the patron saint of hangovers.

I am a recovering addict/alcoholic…please do not rule out AA/12 step program for your alcohold problem…whether you are an alcoholic or not only you can say…but you might be interested to know that the 12 step program utilized by AA parallels St. Ignatius’ Spiritual Excercises…look into it…and prayers be with you

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

†

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Prayer for a Miracle

God of all creation, you who spoke a simple command and brought forth light from
the darkness, I ask you now to send forth your miracle-working power to heal SJBurgess. You cleansed the lepers, opened the eyes of the blind and by
speaking a simple command, you empowered the crippled to rise up and walk.
You sent forth your life-giving power to all those in need, including those you raised from
the dead. I ask you to send forth your healing power into SJBurgess’s body and give him the strength to fight his illness. I ask this through my Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

Gracious and merciful Father, please come to their assistance.

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.

Praying for you…

You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us.
Amen.

Update: Since posting this I’ve been sober and productive and I believe your prayers are helping me, thank you so much. Benedicite.

Venerable Matt Talbot Prayer for Addiction

God of mercy, we bless you in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, who ministers to all who come to Him. Give your strength to Benedicite, who is bound by the chains of addiction. Enfold him in your love and restore him to freedom through your grace.

Lord, look with compassion on all those who have lost their health and have broken relationships because of their attachment to the object of their addiction. Restore to them the assurance of your unfailing mercy, and strengthen them in the work of recovery. To those who care for them, grant patient understanding and a love that perseveres.

Lord, in your servant, Venerable Matt Talbot you have given us a wonderful example of triumph over addiction, of devotion to duty, and of lifelong reverence to the Holy Sacrament. May his life of prayer and penance give Benedicite courage to take up his cross and follow in the footsteps of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Father, we ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

St. Jude Prayer for Addiction

God of life, You made Benedicite in Your perfect image, to live in Your love and to give You glory, honor and praise. Open Benedicite’s heart to Your healing power. Come, Lord Jesus, calm his soul just as you whispered “Peace” to the stormy sea. St. Jude, most holy Apostle, in need we reach out to you. I beg you to intercede for Benedicite that he may find strength to overcome his illness. Bless all those who struggle with addiction. Touch them, heal them, and reassure them of the Father’s constant love. Remain at his side, St. Jude, to chase away all evil temptations, fears, and doubts. May the quiet assurance of your loving presence illuminate the darkness in his heart and bring lasting peace. Through Christ Our Lord, amen.
