My Italian class was disscussing Saint Francis today and one question that arose that no one seemed to have a good answer to was why Saint Francis’s feast day is celebrated on the fourth of October when he died on the third of October. does anyone know?

I don’t have the answer to this, but I’m pretty sure if you ask your question on the “Ask an Apologist” section of this forum you’ll get your answer. 🤷

God bless

Because they are uncertain about the exact date of St. Francis birth, it was either 1181 or 1182, they use the day he died and entered heaven as the feast day.
