I am going through a really tough time right now. I was laid off in January and haven’t found another job yet. I suffer from anxiety and depression and since my unemployment is running out in a couple of weeks it is really heightened. I haven’t lost my faith, but I am just not doing well. Does anyone have a Saint that they would recommend for me to read about? I could use some encouragement.

How about St. Therese of Lisieux, who so surrendered herself to her suffering, and used every little thing (her “little way”) to show her love for God.

I will keep you in my prayers, KildareBrigid.

“Go to Joseph” is what St Andre would always tell people. Also St Joseph is patron of workers.

Peace,
John Marie Philomena

Yes, for employment and peace of mind St. Joseph. Also, Padre Pio. Boy is he a friend. And inspired by St. Pio ask your Guardian Angel! He can meet with the angel of someone who is hoping to hire someone like you!

So many friends in heaven. If you are in Law, ask St. Thomas More. If you are in communications, ask St. Gabriel the Archangel. You can look up your profession and patron saint and see who you might ask a favor. St. Lawrence and Jerome are patrons of Librarians, that is who I’m asking for help right now!😉

But, I would also suggest having a Mass said. I get masses for people, including my husband for his work/employees/patients. I learned from a book called the Porter of St. Bonaventure, about Fr. Solanus Casey. He would listen patiently to people who asked his advice about all sorts of troubles, from people needing help for desperately ill children, marriages, unemployment, and other mental suffering. He would encourage them to support the missions by having a Mass said for their intentions. Well, I took his advice and have found that the highest form of prayer, the Mass, is by far the most effective help from Heaven. Reading the Bible, meditating on the rosary, all Good! You are in my prayers tonight.

I also wanted to tell you that in my late middle ages, I’ve just started saying the rosary regularly. I started the 53 day rosary novena, and it should not be a surprised, that I have found that my anxiety at being ‘unemployed’ in my field has been greatly reduced.

I started the novena as a discernment and help for employment. I’m on day 21:)

God Bless you!

St. Anthony of Padua. He is known as “the wonder worker.” People pray to him for assistance when they lose lost items, but you can also pray to him for peace of mind.

St. Jude Thaddeus, and St. Rita of Cascia. They are both known as “saints of the impossible.”

Here is a link to Catholic.org for information on St. Jude:

You can also look up other information there about other saints, too. Here is a link to their saint’s page:
