I’m looking for a good book on his writings, sermons ect.

I would say just read his homilies. You don’t need someone to explain them to you. The homilies on the Gospel according to John are great. You can get them at this link.

They are pretty expensive though in this version.

Here is an older print which might not be as easy to read because it was translated over a hundred years ago but it is a lot cheaper.
