Hello,

Is anyone familiar with the Theology program at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine? I am interested in finishing my Bachelor’s degree in a program that I am interested in and quickly. This program seems to fit. I wonder, though, if a BA in theology would be accepted for admissions to a MA program at a Seminary or other graduate school. :confused:
 
never heard of the school, but in general I would ask the seminary or university where I hope to seek my MA what their prerequisites are, and if they would accept the degree from the undergraduate school I am attending.

When I applied for graduate school for theology a BA degree in theology was not required, but I had to have a certain number of credits in theology to be accepted or else I would have had to take a few preliminary theology and philosophy credits without credit before I could start the program. I did have 18 undergrad credits in theology, plus our diocese’s advanced catechist certification, so I was OK. Most seminary’s, if you are considering priesthood, also do not require an undergrad theology degree but make you complete a year or more of preliminary theology/philosophy before entering the major seminary.
 
I have just applied to St Joseph’s College to the online B.A inTheology program anyone have any insight?

I took a few classes through them (MA level). Two of my teachers were good, one was, well, in charity I’ll just say “NOT”.

Best advice - be discerning. The “NOT” good teacher was rabidly left-wing…as I tell my own students, “be educated consumers…don’t take everything at face value. READ, READ, READ. Do your research. Go to the source - read the Church documents yourself. Don’t just accept somebody else’s view of things.” If you were not a solid, well-catechized Catholic, the stuff this teacher taught/ the way it was taught could be very misleading…and if you held contrary opinions to those of this teacher, God help you!

Yes; all three classes were online. I’m not sure if the same people teach the grad classes and the undergrad classes, though.
