Australia was thrilled yesterday (17-October-2010) when Blessed Mary Makillop was canonised as “Saint Mary of the Cross Makillop”. A particularly happy occasion, as this is the FIRST SAINT that our country has produced.
However, today (18-October-2010), the Monday morning afterwards, many were shocked and dismayed to hear that Zoo magazine (a men’s magazine that no good Christian man should ever lay hands or eyes upon) had published a pornographic section profaning our new saint, as well as mocking the Holy Father Benedict XVI, and making a blasphemous reference to the blessed sacrament.
Words cannot describe the mixture of anger and sadness that are within me over this matter.
Is nothing sacred in the world today?
