Does anyone know if there is a patron saint of fatigue or sleep?
I seem to need some help staying awake these days. I could use a saint’s intercession.

Thanks!
Sarah

Try St. Dympha. She might be just who you are looking for. In the meantime…exercise sometimes helps you sleep, along with a warm bath…not a shower…a warm bath. Add some bubbles. And avoid caffeine before bedtime.

OP said she has trouble staying awake, not trouble falling asleep. Different thing altogether.

I know St therese of Lisieux (the Little Flower) sometimes fell asleep in chapel, so you may want to try a prayer to her.

LilyM you are right. Trouble staying awake, no problem at all falling asleep.

I am slightly hypothyroid and I think that causes it, I get just a little stressed out and I can;t stay awake to save my life. I could sleep for days. I;ve been into the hosptial for sleep studies and so forth and have gotten no real answer at this point. I just feel tired like I could sleep for days.

At this point I just want to ask an intessesor for help. I will check into these Saints, thank you for your help!

I would also like to suggest St. Bernadette of Lourdes. She spent much time in the convent infirmary… both working there and as a patient, herself. She suffered from asthma and tuberculosis, and must have been constantly fatigued.

Well Saints Peter, John and James couldn’t stay awake at Gethsemane.

It seems like once we start thinking about this we can come up with a number of Saints who must’ve been tired. 🙂

Just to give you some idea of where I am coming from.
  • I do work out 4-5 days a week.
  • I am a single parent of a teenager.
  • I work full time
  • I have an underactive thyroid and asthma.
I am so tired lately I can’t even stay awake at work and I struggle to clean my house or do anything. So tired. When I am working out I maintain my heart rate at about 155 - 167 beats per minute so it is intense. About 10 minutes after I work out if I lay down I am out cold. I don’t think this is normal. I am going into the doctor in the morning tomorrow to have some blood work done to see if my thyroid levels are low. Meanwhile I need to pray. I will try all these saints tonight. If they could just help me get the drive to keep moving and get my laundry done I would be happy.

Thanks to all of you for your help. If you think of any others please let me know.
