one of my favorite saints in Patrick. just a few minutes ago i found this site about him which claims he was “saved” and was never catholic.
born-again-christian.info/saint.patrick.htm
it doesn’t quote any sources, and just kind of rambles on. typical fundie writing.

They link to Jack Chick’s “Death Cookie” at the bottom of the page.
This isn’t worth attention.

Pax Tecum,
Penitant

I love how they have absolutely no citations or proof. Besides the usually wackiness, did anyone notice that quote at the bottom about the “Passion of the Christ.”

did anyone notice that the whole work really made no sense? they jumped from one thing to another faster than monkeys swinging tree to tree.

i didn’t know that people actually took jack chick tracts as truth.

Yeah, to a lot of folks he’s the infallible pope of anti-catholicism.

Stuff and nonsense. Of course he was Catholic. What:shrug: planet are those people from???

Mind you, he was saved, of course: He’s a saint, he’s in Heaven. He’s saved.

(I notice that the:rolleyes: pornography preferring “missionary” goes unidentified…Can anyone say   “mythical missionary” 10 times fast without falling over their tongue???)

I feel so dirty looking at that site and the “death cookie” site

I need benediction now

There always a bit of truth in these things. For instance a lot of saints do have a conversion experience which motivates them to devote their lives to God. However it is often prompted by many years of going through the motions of formal religion, and it doesn’t generally involve a rejection of the Church.

St Patrick might have been such, although the normal story goes that he was motivated to return to Ireland by love of his former slave-masters, and the historically sophisticated believe that he went to stamp out Pelagianism which was taking root on the little island.

St Patrick was a Brit. No lie there. For some reason some people think that that is a really telling point.
