Did you take your interpretation from a book by a Muslim, FoA? (since Planten, Hamba2han and you said exactly the same thing about those verses…) We may wonder if you really read the whole New Testament and the whole Bible (at least, most of it)?🤓

That quote is in response to the false claim that Jesus only came to bring peace.

Jesus is going to kill a lot of people when he returns, haven’t you ever read Revelation?
2 Peter Chapter 1

20 Understanding this first: That no prophecy of scripture is made by private interpretation. No prophecy of scripture is made by private interpretation… This shows plainly that the scriptures are not to be expounded by any one’s private judgment or private spirit, because every part of the holy scriptures were written by meninspired by the Holy Ghost, and declared as such by the Church; therefore they are not to be interpreted but by the Spirit of God, which he hath left, and promised to remain with his Church to guide her in all truth to the end of the world. Some may tell us, that many of our divines interpret the scriptures: they may do so, but they do it always with a submission to the judgment of the Church, and not otherwise. 21 For prophecy came not by the will of man at any time: but the holy men of God spoke, inspired by the Holy Ghost.

We-e-ell, FoA, you seem to reject the explanation Booklover gave you of that verse. This is correct, whether you like it or not: that’s the Church’s interpretation!
I accept that it means there would be divisions. Though let’s not be misleading to imply it was only the mean Jews and Muslims hurting poor Christians, the Church and Christians in general have carried around some big swords of their own too, in rebellion of what Jesus said to put away your sword.
And you seem to forget there’s a verse where God states that He doesn’t want death to the one who sins, but that he change ways (and therefore that he sins no more) and lives! The Last Judgment will really be brought on ourselves by ourselves, in a way. If we choose to stick to sin to the end, well we’ll be one with sin and be destroyed along with it! Then, yes, the sinners too will then be destroyed, unless they chose to change and make concrete steps in that direction…
It won’t be the last judgment when Jesus returns, that happens a thousand years later when people are judged for their sins.

Before Jesus returns there will be trumpets and vials and things to punish the whole world, then when Jesus gets here he kills off the rest who fight against him, the Beast and his armies. So let’s also not be misleading to say Jesus will descend from the clouds with peace and love right away, he’s going to kick some butt first.

What part of what I say do you disagree with?

Dear Lapell, I cannot read all the bible NT. I read the four gospels which are really one gospel only. I do not read paul. He is not in our books and also not any where in the four gospels. The four gospels are the real ones by the real and active disciples of JESUS.

They wrote the gospels long time (80 years) after jesus went way. They did not mention paul at all who had been killed by the year 66 A.D. That would have been the greatest miracle of Jesus i.e. the conversion of the enemy (paul), had it been true.

We Muslims have got enough knowledge about Jesus through the four gospels and the Quran. We have no problem about Jesus and his mother and the disciples of Jesus. We love them all and we do not deny their very good work. Thanks to GOD Almighty.

If you throw out Acts, you should throw out Luke, as it is a CONTINUATION of Luke’s Gospel. If you throw out Revelations, you should throw out John’s Gospel and his three epistels. James, Jude and Peter also wrote letters. Are they out as well?

There are many dating systems for the Bible. The one that I hold to, and it is accepted by many reputable scholars, holds that it was completed well bofore 70 A.D. as the destruction of Jerusalem was never mentioned in any of the books, including the last one written (one of John’s writings.)

But, for arguement’s sake, let us take the most liberal dating, that it was done between 50 and 100 years after the Death and ressurection of Jesus. Would it not still be more accurate than the Koran, which was 600 years later and compiled by men who had no contact with true Christianity, or even anyone who knew anyone who knew Jesus?

Yes, it may be the Muslim or any body’s interpretation. The words are there in the bible and you cannot twist the meanings too. Jesus says that he had not come to make peace in the world but he had come to bring sword.

Please also read in the bible that Jesus had ordered his men to buy swords even by selling their clothes. So the peaceful message of Jesus is very clear. That message is against peace and carries swords.

It is a different story that he was caught too quickly. We Muslims understand the message of Jesus with the swords and without the swords. whatever he said and did was alright. Only the christians are mistaken. And you are also trying to avoid the issue by distorting the meanings of the actual words of the bible.

Why don’t you admit that the message / intention of Jesus was not peace. Then leave it at that. Thanks. Do not give a reverse meaning to the lines of the bible. You cannot be an advocate and teach something which Jesus did not say. Perhaps we Muslims love JESUS more than you people. Thanks again.
Your interpretation depends on how you want the story to be told but the story about the sword was not told on how it is going to be used. It was a matter of mentioning but nothing was done wrong and the intention for the sword was obviously not for violence. You have to read about how Jesus would tell later how the sword could cause harm when Peter used it to cut the Roman soldier’s ear. “If you live by the sword you will die by the sword”. Rebuking them to let them know how dangerous the sword is. So, your perception that the sword is for violence is wrong because no indication that Jesus will use it for that purpose. The rest of the story is only to show how He would condemn the sword.

Sure he did.

Quran 61:14 O ye who believe! Be Allah’s helpers, even as Jesus son of Mary said unto the disciples: Who are my helpers for Allah? They said: We are Allah’s helpers. And a party of the Children of Israel believed, while a party disbelieved. Then We strengthened those who believed against their foe, and they became the uppermost.

Is the last prophet before John the Baptist, Malachi, ever mentioned in the NT?
Malachi3.24:’Lo, I will send you a prophet,
Elijah the prophet
Before the day of the Lord comes
The great and terrible day.”
Matthew17:10-13
“….but I Tell you that Elijah has already come”.

Easy, the Qur’an!
If God authored the Bible and the Qur’an, then why do they contradict each other? In fact why does the Qur’an contradict itself?

The answer to this is easy, the Qur’an is authored by man without divine guidance, more accurately Muhammad alone was the author.

I don’t understand really why anyone cares about what the muslims have to say anyway, when they really weren’t found until around the 600 Anno Domini time era.

That passage is about warning them about the persecutions that they would endure, that’s why he said “It is enough!”, when the disciples mentioned that they had a couple of swords. They were taking his words literally, not figuratively. You’re the one that’s twisting the meaning, not me.

What do you know about the Bible? Nothing! You can 't even tell the difference between Jesus and Muhammad. You see everything as violence and killing. That is what Islam is all about! Killing and subjugating others to its tyrannical creed because that’s what Muhammad did.

Jesus is the light and Muhammad is the darkness. If you really loved Jesus as you claim, you’d reject Muhammad and his evil ways, but you do not, because you’ve accepted darkness and evil as your creed instead of the light of Jesus. May God have mercy on you and enlighten you to see the truth!

My understanding is that, yes when Jesus returns it will be for the Last Judgment! At the end of times. The details about how it will happen I leave that to God. In the Revelation what you have is a foretaste of the things to come.

“He who knows still doesn’t know enough.” So, you don’t even know the Acts of the Apostles, which is the Part II of the Gospel according to Luke? There Paul is very present. That’s what it is not to know the whole of the New Testament. Saint Jerome didn’t say: “To ignore the Gospels is to ignore Christ”, but “To ignore the Scriptures is to ignore Christ”! Not having the Acts of the Apostles you miss a very important part of God’s revelation. The Gospel itself is about Jesus the Messiah, his message, salvation, how to become true disciples in words and in deeds out of faith and the love of God in action. The Acts of the Apostles show in short how the Church began and how the Apostles and the disciples spread the Gospel. Among the things it tells us about is the conversion of Saul of Tarse from a fervent persecutor of the Church to one of the risen Jesus’ disciples and apostles. You don’t know what you are missing. A whole meal is offered to you, but you say “I’ll be content with the crumbs” even though the invitation is from God Himself. That is sad, very sad!

600 years or 1400 years. Jesus came 1400 years after Moses. Why did JESUS come? What was the need?? There had been many other prophets before and after Moses a.s. Why they came? What was the purpose? Jesus was just one of them, being the last prophet under the command of Moses a.s. and under the law of Moses a.s. He was subservient prophet under the law of Moses.

When we see the bible OT and NT, there are prophets coming from God. Then why suddenly the christians cannot tolerate Muhammad as a prophet of God. Muhammad did not claim to be a god in any way. He claimed to be a messenger only. So was Jesus also a messenger. He brought the message from God for the Jewish people who rejected him.

Christians have made Jesus into a god. But at the same they are not ready that there could be a messenger in any other nation in the world. This matter is not understood.

I have described the role of JESUS according to ISLAM. Surely it is different to the belief of the christians. Further, I have to inform the friends here that according to Islam (Quran) God sent prophets in every nation of the world. That is what we believe.
Please see: [35:24] Verily, We have sent thee with the Truth, as a bearer of glad tidings and as a Warner; and there is no people to whom a Warner has not been sent.
Jesus was also a warner.

What part of what I say do you disagree with?
Well, the putting together of THOSE quotes from the Gospels, separate from their context (what came before and after, and the whole of the Gospel). You put the same verses together, Planten, Hamba2han and you. All about swords, so there must be some earthly war involved, some jihad!.. If you knew the whole of the New Testament and read it in the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God the Father and the Son, believe me, you would be more careful about how to interpret it, for false interpretations can happen and do happen!
Don’t you know what any translator has to know, that a word or a phrase has its sense given by the context? This is very, very important!

600 years or 1400 years. Jesus came 1400 years after Moses. Why did JESUS come? What was the need?? There had been many other prophets before and after Moses a.s. Why they came? What was the purpose?
Yeah, why did God have to send prophets over and over again? So that the people give up sin and come back to God’s ways.

Then why suddenly the christians cannot tolerate Muhammad as a prophet of God.
Well, maybe because he says things which are not consistent with the Old AND the New Testament. The fact that Muslims call the OT and the NT corrupt versions of the original Word of God certainly doesn’t help!

Muhammad did not claim to be a god in any way. He claimed to be a messenger only. So was Jesus also a messenger.
Excuse me, but you don’t seem to know what Jesus’ claims were… and still are!

Christians have made Jesus into a god.
Oh! no, we didn’t! WE haven’t made this up! Read the whole of the Gospels, the Gospel according to John in particular…

I have described the role of JESUS according to ISLAM. Surely it is different to the belief of the christians. Further, I have to inform the friends here that according to Islam (Quran) God sent prophets in every nation of the world. That is what we believe. Well, you’re telling me! If prophets are those who speak the Word of God and His teachings, the Apostles and disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ certainly have been prophets from the beginning of the Church! And we have spread to the ends of the world. So we don’t deny that God sent prophets to the nations!

Sorry, I haven’t mastered how to separate the parts from quotes from my parts of reply, but I think the next time will be much better!😃

Dear Lapell, I cannot read all the bible NT. I read the four gospels which are really one gospel only. I do not read paul. He is not in our books and also not any where in the four gospels.
You don’t have them just because you haven’t bought one or because it’s forbidden?

.

He claimed to be a messenger only. So was Jesus also a messenger. He brought the message from God for the Jewish people who rejected him.
Muhammad did proclaim himself a god when he invented his alter ego “Allah”. Muhammad is Allah. Think of all the self serving “revelations” that “Allah” granted him. Muhammad was one of the false prophets that Jesus warned us about.
Christians have made Jesus into a god. But at the same they are not ready that there could be a messenger in any other nation in the world. This matter is not understood.
Wrong! Christians have not made Jesus into a god! Jesus is God and so he has revealed to us. Why another prophet when the Son of God himself has come to us??
I have described the role of JESUS according to ISLAM. Surely it is different to the belief of the christians. Further, I have to inform the friends here that according to Islam (Quran) God sent prophets in every nation of the world. That is what we believe.

Moot point, because we do not believe in Muhammad, Islam or Muhammad’s book the Quran!
