Actually, Paul didn’t say that everyone was supposed to bring a psalm / hymn / whatever. What he did say was that in the church in Corinth, “. . . each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation.” (ESV) I strongly suspect that his “each one / everyone” was hyperbole. In any case, his point was that a lot of people in that congregation thought that they had something to contribute, and his argument was that these contributions should be made in an orderly manner, so that the rest of the people could be “edified / built up”.
As to your specific question, I have done so in my previous Protestant life. There were times when I was a music minister, teacher, interim pastor, etc., and I had to bring songs or teachings (tongues – not so much). Since swimming the Tiber – no.
