Does anybody have any quotes from Saints about alcohol?

Which kind do you need? The kind where St. John Chrysostom says he’ll punch anyone who says alcohol is intrinsically evil and Paul tells Timothy to take a little wine for his stomach’s sake? Or the kind where saints warn against too much of the drink taken, and allowing yourself to be enslaved by a liquid? Because you’ll certainly find both.

And of course, Jews normally aren’t supposed to get tipsy any more than Catholics are, but at the festival of Purim, they are (unless alcoholic) religiously obliged to drink enough celebratory drink that they slur certain words, because God’s salvation of them in the Book of Esther was just so awesome…

St. Peter on wine:
