Hello. I once read about a Catholic who established a retreat center for poor people to go into the mountains and be rest and pray in the beauty of nature. I think this person was ministering to the poor in urban areas in Japan or some other Asian nation in the 20th century, maybe after WWII and is a saint or blessed. Does anyone know who this might have been? Maximillian Kolbe (I realize he was killed during the war)? Satoko Kitahara? Someone else?

Thanks.

I think you mean Fr. Gereon Goldman. He was a German priest who went to Japan as a missionary after WWII. Read “The Shadow of His Wings”, the most AMAZING, true story I have ever read. You will never doubt the power of prayer again!

Thank you for your reply. I have read that book, so that must be where I got the idea. I plan to take a look at it again!
