November 26, 2012 - Monday, 34th Week in Ordinary Time:

Collect:
“Stir up the will of your faithful, we pray, O Lord,
that, striving more eagerly
to bring your divine work to fruitful completion,
they may receive in greater measure
the healing remedies your kindness bestows.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.”

November 25, 2012 - Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe (Solemnity):
Today is the Last Sunday in Ordinary Time.

Collect:
“Almighty ever-living God,
whose will is to restore all things
in your beloved Son, the King of the universe,
grant, we pray,
that the whole creation, set free from slavery,
may render your majesty service
and ceaselessly proclaim your praise.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.”

Sharing this excerpt from today’s Euchalette, p.1:

“On this last Sunday of the liturgical year, we are invited to renew our allegiance to Jesus as our Lord and King. Today, we have also a new opportunity to realize the immense number of graces the Lord has granted us in the course of this liturgical year. And as we call to mind these favors, we gladly express our most sincere gratitude for them …” (p.1.)

After Holy Communion, we renewed our consecration (ourselves, our families, our nation and the whole world) to Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. For all those who wish to make this consecration, too, the prayer is posted below:

Act of Dedication of the Human Race to Jesus Christ, the King:

"Most sweet Jesus, Redeemer of the human race,
look down upon us humbly prostrate before you.
We are yours, and yours we wish to be;
but to be more surely united with you,
behold each one of us
freely consecrates himself today
to your Most Sacred Heart.
Many indeed have never known you;
many, too, despising your precepts, have rejected you.
Have mercy on them all, most merciful Jesus,
and draw them to your Sacred Heart.

Be King, O Lord, not only of the faithful
who have never forsaken you,
but also of the prodigal children
who have abandoned you;
grant that they may quickly return to their Father’s house,
lest they die of wretchedness and hunger.

Be King of those who are deceived by erroneous opinion,
or whom discord keeps aloof,
and call them back to the harbor of truth
and the unity of faith,
so that soon
there may be but one flock and one Shepherd.

Grant, O Lord, to your Church
assurance of freedom and immunity from harm;
give tranquillity and order to all nations;
and make the earth resound
from pole to pole with one cry:
Praise to the Divine Heart
that wrought our salvation;
to It be glory and honor forever. AMEN!"
(from today’s Euchalette, p. 4.)

‘Then at last I baptize them in due form, and I give to each his name written on a ticket. After their baptism the new Christians go back to their houses and bring me their wives and families for baptism. When all are baptized I order all the temples of their false gods to be destroyed and all the idols to be broken in pieces. I can give you no idea of the joy I feel in seeing this done, witnessing the destruction of the idols by the very people who but lately adored them.’

Shin, Very encouraging testimony from St. Francis Xavier! If the Lord did these things then because they were needed, He’s probably doing them today, too, when conversions are much needed. We can just pray for these conversions to happen … Thanks for sharing the quote.

December 4, 2012 - Tuesday, 1st Week of Advent:

Collect:
“Look with favor, Lord God, on our petitions,
and in our trials grant us your compassionate help,
that, consoled by the presence of your Son,
whose coming we now await,
we may be tainted no longer
by the corruption of former ways.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.”

December 4 - Saint John Damascene, Priest and Doctor of the Church (Optional Memorial):

Collect:
“Grant, we pray, O Lord,
that we may be helped by the prayers
of the Priest Saint John Damascene,
so that the true faith,
which he excelled in teaching,
may always be our light and our strength.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.”

“Born in Damascus, St. John (675-749) served as finance minister to the caliph before his ordination. He dedicated himself to study and writing, producing both works of dogmatic theology as well as many hymns. One of the principal defenders of the use of images in religious worship, he is considered the last Father of the Church.” (Daily Roman Missal, MTF.)

raise up in your Church men after your own heart

“While St. Ambrose (340-397) was serving the imperial government and yet a catechumen, he was elected Bishop of Milan.
