I’m working on a novel (have been for 10+years now) and I’m looking for a little help. My main characters are 18 year old devout Catholic girls going off to a huge public university about 3 hours away; one of them is going to remain steadfast in her faith, the other not so much. Saints are going to play a very big role in getting the fallen-away girl back on the right road. So what saints do you think would be helpful for a girl her age? I’m thinking Maria Goretti for one, Catherine Laboure, I’m already including St Francis of Assisi and Ignatius of Loyola. Thanks for any suggestions!

We don’t have to mirror saint’s lives to be inspired by them.Theresa of Calcutta for example, inspired people of all ages to work with the terminally ill. Maximilion Kolbe inspired those who would stand up to injustice.
St Clare was young when she decided to follow Father Francis and start her own order. Dorothy Day comes to mind as well.
Katherine Drexel…
lots…

How about Edith Stein?

St. Rose of Lima. St. Mary of Egypt. I was thinking of writing something similar.
