Saints I like!

Hi,

Here are some saints i like:) as you know, iam reading the Divine Mercy in my soul. reading Catholic books about the saints really helps my devotions become part of my daily life. I have a devotion to Our Lady of Lourdes, and Passion, and Precious Blood and the Holy Face. I also like Saint Vincent de Paul, Catherine Laboure and Margaret Mary Alocoque. The ones below from left to right are, Bernadette, Rita of Cascia ( with thorn in her forehead ) Philomena and Therese.

I have asked Saints Philomena and Mary Magdalene to be on my right and left sides when I am praying, to add their prayers to mine. I also wear the Cord of Saint Philomena
 
Those are great Saints!!

Here some of mine–my patron St. Sebastian, Bl. Pius IX, St. Robert Bellarmine, St. Alphonsus Liguori 🙂
 
Gee, my list is really long, for I have been brought up on the lives of the saints and there are many who inspired me. It’s like walking through a beautiful garden and seeing all kinds of flowers, each a different shape, color, fragrance, and beauty of its own. Maybe that’s coincidental that I was born on the Vigil of All Saints, for that has been my spiritual desire to ponder their lives and virtues. To this day, I enjoy Super Saints on EWTN. I guess if I had to pick a favorite, it might be St. Paul. 🤷

When I lived in Detroit, the Chancery Office had a lending library and I had the wonderful privilege of reading scores of biographies over my early years of growing spiritually. St. Gertrude was pretty special, too, as I remember.
 
My hubby likes Saint Francis of Assisi, Saint Cornelius the Centurion, and he has a special devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus:) I wear the cord of Saint Philomena attached to my Mount Carmel scapular. My devotions are pretty deep seated. Especially to the Passion and the Precious Blood and the Holy Face!🙂
 
Ok, I couldn’t leave these off too!

St. Jerome, St. Basil, St. Catherine of Siena, and St. Peter Martyr. 🙂
 
Catherine of Siena is my moms patron saint:)👍 do you guys have particular devotions like me?
 
I guess you could say I have a devotion to the Saints! :rotfl:

More seriously, my deepest devotion is to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, and that is the name I took in OCDS.

Awesome, have you read her book, “The Dialogue”? It is amazing. I think Pope Paul made her a Doctor of the Church because he knew how important this book is for our time! 🙂

As for devotions, I am very devoted to Our Lady’s Immaculate Conception (I consecrated myself to her on that Feast) and to the Passion like you–do you have the Red Scapular of the Passion? It’s great way to remember the Blood shed for us. 👍

As for the IC, that’s one way Our Lady enflamed my soul. I was a lukewarm Catholic. One day I was talking to another Catholic and they corrected me and explained that the IC referred to Mary and not Jesus–it was then I realized I was very ignorant in matters of faith and I set out to study it 🙂

ps: I see you are devoted to the Holy Face–do you know this beautiful prayer by St. Therese?

*‘the reproach of men and the Man of Sorrows,’ *
I venerate Thy Holy Face on which shone
*the beauty and gentleness of Divinity. *
*In those disfigured features I recognize Thine Infinite Love, *

Yes, i believe i do have that prayer! and yes, i do have a Passion Scapular:)
 
Ooooh! I have a devotion to Our Lady of Lourdes.
St Raphael is another of my favorites as is St Michael.
 
My favorites are St. Cecilia, St. Vincent de Paul, St. Therese, St. Francis of Assisi, St. Peter, and St. Albert the Great.
 
I cannot forget St Elizabeth Ann Seton. She’s our church’s patron saint. 🙂

This probably should be duplicated for the thread asking which saint caused us to weep, for when you mentioned her, Genesis, I remembered shedding floods of tears as I viewed the movie about her, starring Kate Mulgrew. Though I had seen the film before without any such deep emotion, we were on pilgrimage to her shrine in Baltimore, and the video was played on our bus. My friends and I were very surprised that I cried almost throughout the movie, since I am usually not prone to tears.

Are you sensing that I am giving it a 5-star rating and hoping you all get a chance to rent or purchase the video? 👍

There are too many for me to list 'em all.

I love Our Lady, especially under the titles of Mother of Perpetual Help (probably one of the best-known images of her) and Help of Christians (patroness of my country and city).

St Joseph, definitely - strength and courage combined with enormous amounts of humility, obedience and loving self-sacrifice.

St Francis of Assisi, the Franciscan charism runs strong in my family.

St Helena of the Cross, my confirmation saint, St Cajetan (my birthday saint) Blessed Mary MacKillop (our only Australian beato, may she be sainted soon!) and St Margaret of Cortona are all saints I admire for different reasons, although I wouldn’t say I have as big a devotion to them as Our Lady and St Joseph.
