Saints Question

Hi there,
A friend of mine had received all A’s on his report card this past semester. He had studied somewhat hard. He also said he offered his tests especially to a saint (if I heard him correctly) for a petition of getting all A’s. I know he’s not trying to be superstitious but is offering tests to saints okay or can we only offer stuff like our tests and work shifts to God?

If he “offered” anything to a saint, it should be (and probably was) with the understanding that the saint’s mission was to be the emissary and take the matter straight to God.

It’s like when I “offer” 2 dollars and light a candle in front of St. Anthony at church. I am not worshipping St. Anthony (or worse yet, the statue of St. Anthony). I’m worshipping God with/through St. Anthony and asking St. Anthony to please also pray for me to God.

If you mean asking help of the saints on tests - yes, of course we can.
If you mean giving our efforts and works to honor a saint - yes, the saint gives everything to God. We give some flowers to Our Lady because we love her.

But if you’re talking about superstition, that’s different. Saints are real people - alive in heaven. If we treat them like they’re a magic trick or like a lucky rabbits foot, then that’s a sin.
