in this article the author discusses a special prayer for exorcising salt, versus simply blessing it, and makes it sound like salt or holy water that is simply blessed with the Sign of the Cross doesn’t have the same effects against the devil as that blessed with the special prayer. so from a spiritual warfare perspective, is there really a difference between blessed salt and exorcised salt? blessings given by a priest and blessed objects of devotion are listed as sacramentals, and one of the benefits of sacramentals is protection against evil spirits, http://www.cmri.org/baltimore-catechism-no2-lessons31-38.shtml#Lesson26 so it confuses me that a regular priestly blessing through the sign of the Cross like was performed on my jar of salt would still leave it ineffective. i’m the kind of girl who likes to make sure things are done right, though, especially since i am starting a spiritual warfare apostolate and when we discuss blessed salt i want to have my facts straight.
