A weekend article by WorldNetDaily has the Salvation Army facing new criticism for its position on abortion, — which supports the pro-life position on most all abortions but allow for rape and incest exceptions.
The Salvation Army is not new to criticism for supporting exceptions to its pro-life position, as Life Decisions International, which compiles frequent lists of corporations to boycott for donating to the Planned Parenthood abortion business, has cited the Salvation Army for criticism. LDI has included the red kettle organization in its list of groups that deserve scrutiny because of less than absolute pro-life positions.
The Salvation Army’s abortion position statement starts off with a pro-life theme

I am saddened to hear this. In their statement they affirm the sanctity of life yet support the termination of a sanctified life if the child was conceived through rape or incest. Their statement encourages counseling for unwanted pregnancies that are not the result of a rape. Why not counsel the rape victim too? Let her know that God loves her and that He loves her child no matter what circumstance it was conceived. Also, they approve of abortion of unborn children who have abnormalities. Has God ordained this? Absolutely not! SA you cannot have it both ways.I will pray that members of the Salvation Army encourage their leadership to change their support of abortion for any reason. Until then, I will suspend my contributions to the Red Kettle campaign.

Maybe this will lead to their leaders re-thinking their illogical ‘exception clause’. I will send a short letter to their headquarters re: this. The SA does alot of good.
