Salvation History Cliff Notes

I’m looking for a quick few pages brief of salvation history (from Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David to Christ) which I can use in CCD confirmation class.

Can you be a little more detailed as to what you’re looking for? Length, format, detail? That might help people have a better idea of what you’re looking for.

I’m looking for seomthing 2 pages long, started to write my own, based on what I remember, it’s only a plan to fill in, have to keep it short and easy

1. God created Adam and Eve (1st covenant). They committed original sin, were driven out from paradise. This is how sin entered the world through one man. Cain killed Abel, we’re descendants of Seth.
2. The World screwed up again, God chosen Noah (2nd covenant) and flooded the earth.
3. God revealed himself to Abraham (3rd covenenat), descendant of Noah’s son Shem. Abraham has Ishmael (Muslims/Arabs) with his wife handmaid Hagar, and Isaac (Israelites) with his wife Sarah (about 100 years old). Isaac has Esau and Jacob. Jacob has 12 sons, one of them was Joseph. Joseph was sold to Egypt.
4. Israelites spent 400 years in Egypt. Moses (4th covenant) was adopted by Pharaoh Daughter…
5. David
6. Jesus

etc Unfortunately most is unknown to 13-14 years old. Adevnt is good opportunity to think about it

my best cheat sheet when I need something quick is the middle school textbook on the topic, for instance, the 6th grade book in most series is on the OT and salvation history, 8th grade is church history, 7th grade is NT. I actually keep these in my office when I need just the basics and an outline, or to fact check.

When I teach salvation history I use a very rough timeline that nonetheless gives people somewhat of a grasp of it’s scope through history.

Draw a line. From left to right, write in the following events.

Pre-history

1. At the begining of the line, write in "Creation/Adam & Eve/The Fall. This first section also contains the stories of Noah and the Tower of Babel. Since we don’t know the dates of these events, don’t write in a year.

Historical Events
2. Still moving from left to right, make the first mark on the line. Mark this “2000 BC” and under it write “Abraham.”

1. The second mark will be “1500 BC” and this will be labeled “Moses/Exodus.”

1. The third mark will be “1000 BC” and marked “David/Solomon.”

1. The fourth mark will be “500 BC” and labeled “Babylonian Exile.”

1. The fifth mark will be “AD 1” and labeled “Jesus Christ.” I always highlight this point.

1. The sixth mark will be “AD 500” and labeled “Fall of the pagan Roman Empire”

1. The seventh mark will be “AD 1000” and labeled “The East/West Schism”

1. The eighth mark will be “AD 1500” and labeled “The Reformation.”

1. The last mark will be “AD 2000” and I usually label it “?”

Of couse this isn’t exactly accurate (there may be a fudge factor of, give or take, a hundred years in some cases) but at least its an informative visual framework. When I present this in class, people are immediately able to see the salavation history picture in a way they never have before.

I always like to point out to them that it seems like God has a way of acting within history (for good or for ill) about every 500 years. It always brings up the intriguing question: What’s the next big event around the year AD 2000?
