Oh! No doubt. We have produced a few figures who have culturally passed to belong to the world at large. Einstein is one of them, unless the Catholic Church has already baptized him as a Catholic. Another one is Sigmund Freud. Was he also a Catholic? Carl Max is another. I don’t even know if these people are still Jewish. When someone is a genius, usually their Jewishness is promptly denied.

Ben: 😊
You can have Sigmund Freud and Karl Marx, Einstein on the other hand . . . 😃

Ben in reply to your opion:

 I believe , although God chose the Jews to have a hand in our Salvation. By bringing Jesus into the world. All Jews collectively are not our Salvation. God gave that to Jesus alone.
Code:
John 4:22 Although it does state in 22: You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Jesus tells the Samaritan woman in his own words in 13: 14
13: Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14: but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
He clearly states " The water I GIVE THEM " not the water My people give them.

No One Comes To The Father, But Through Me: John : 6

Again Jesus states clearly He is our Salvation.

He says " But Through ME "
NOT But Through The Jewish People

The Jewish people are Gods chosen people and they have always been Blessed more than most. However, He chose them to bring about the Salvation of the World Not to Be the Salvation of the World.

🤷

The Lord My God Lights Up My Darkness 👍

Jesus came to the Jews to lead them to the Gentiles. I think it is rather arrogant for Ben to think the world revolves around the Jews.

Ben_Masada:
Catholics are sinners like everyone else.

That’s not the point.

Why not read the book? I’m sure you’ll find it interesting.

I believe you’re referring to Lorenzo Da Ponte, the librettist of Mozart’s operas Don Giovanni, The Marriage of Figaro, and Cosi Fan Tutti. I think he also founded the Italian Language Department at Columbia University in New York.

You haven’t mp3’d them all and put the collection in the attic?

Are you sure that Jesus came to the Jews to lead them to the Gentiles? Now, I do not understand why, every time he sent his disciples in a mission to spread the news about
the Kingdom of God he would forbid them to visit Gentile
territory or even enter a Samaritan town (Mat.10:6) How are we supposed to understand this contradiction? Can you explain?

Ben: 🙂

Fortunately, Mr Kaninchen’s always been good about that side of things, he’d have to be to put up with my food faddism!

Gosh! They have robbed us of Jesus, now, they want to rob us of Mozart. Pretty soon even Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Moses were all Catholics.

Ben: 🙂
Not sure how the Catholics stole someone whose family raised him such, but ok…

As with a few others, I’ll admit curiosity as to where you found, historically documented, that he was Jewish. Even my Jewish roommate was a bit befuddled on that. Now, Shatner and Nimoy are undeniably Jewish.

Back onto the salvation topic, I think in the end the entire argument is going to stay one for a long time among most religions due to interpretation. Many great people in the past have thought they were bringing salvation to the world when in truth they destroyed a great deal of it. Others have created in a sense salvation out of what they felt was destruction. 🤷

First off let me do some more research and get back to you. What I meant about the Jews bringing about our Salvation. Was that they HELPED to bring about our Salvation. So I believe there is a difference. Mary said yes to God and therefore Jesus was born. That doesn’t make Our Blessed Mother our Salvation. And She wouldn’t want anyone to think that was the case. She knows that Honor is Her Son’s alone .

The reasons is the same as why Jesus often told those he healed “not to tell anyone” – the reason being, the timing wasn’t right.

The Jews were symbolically the “first born.” It was necessary that they be given the first “opportunity”.

The history of the OT covenants showed and expansion of inclusion, going from couple to family to tribe to nation to kingdom to…everybody (that’s us gentiles!) At the end of the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus tells his disciples to go forth and make disciples of all nations, only after the Gospels had been preached throughout Israel.

Do you really believe you are the chosen one anymore since the Jews reject Christ? In Ezekiel, God tells him that he has given the Jews ears but they do not hear, and eyes but they do not see. He also wanted to erase His own people from the earth because they did not listen to Him, that is why God sent His Son to the Jews because they weren’t listening.
For 40 years the Jews roamed the desert because they broke the Covenant so many times. Yes, the Jews were once the chosen, but it is the gentiles who are the chosen ones now.

You won’t find too many genius of the size of a Mozart, who was considered a “son of God” even by non-Jews.
Ben: 👍
Ben, since this is a Catholic forum I thought it only right to mention that Wolfgang Amaedus Mozart was a Roman Catholic, born in Salzburg, Austria, 27 January 1756 and baptized in the Roman Catholic Cathedral (Dom) in Salzburg on 28 January 1756. His father was Johann Georg Leopold Mozart and his mother was Anna Maria Walburga Mozart.

I agree fully Jews have made phenomenal contribution to the world in many fields, proportionately high considering their small numbers as you mentioned. And for my part I’m deeply grateful that Jesus was a Jew and Christianity was brought to my Hindu ancestors by a Jew, Apostle Thomas.

But it is not fair to ignore what other civilizations have done in their respective parts of the world. Apart from what is well known about the European civilization, the Indian civilization would remind you that four major religions took root on Indian soil - Hinduism, (which they consider to be the oldest religion in the world, with the oldest religious Scripture, the Vedas, starting with Rig Veda), Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism. Hindu and Buddhist philosophies are giants in their own way. The Chinese and Indian systems of medicine are very, very old. Chinese have a phenomenal history and culture that is very ancient too. The foundation for Western allopathic medicine was laid in pagan Greece. Think Hippocrates. Greek philosophy needs no mention. The Byzanthine and Islamic cultures and their achievements should not be ignored.

One could go on…

Do you really believe that the sun still lights the
day and the moon and stars still light the night? Do you believe that the natural laws have given way in spite of the Lord? If you do, it’s because the race of Israel hasn’t yet ceased being a nation before the Lord. Can you measure the heavens above or the foundations below the earth? I don’t believe you can. Therefore, the Almighty hasn’t yet cast off Israel. (Jer. 31:35-37)

Last but not least, of the other nations God will make an end to them; but of Israel, He will only chastise as we deserve. (Jer. 46:28) That’s a consolation that you can partake of only if you join the club.

My dear friend, let me tell you the secret of our relationship with God. The Almighty would never renounce Israel, who has been betrothed to Him. God does chastise Israel, but it’s like the chastisement of the jealous lover, longing to bring back the beloved to the fresh and pure joy of their first love. I don’t believe you can penetrate the meaning of our commitment to each other.

Ben: 🙂
