Harris has a very morbid platform which concedes to fear relative to death regardless of faith disposition or whatever.
He thieves the idea of meditation from spirituality for his followers and does a very poor job explaining the method, including twisting around idea’s connected to grief, consciousness and what would be easily considered, meeting reality head on and trying to understand things we have no control over.
He use’s examples in his free will argument which not only make no sense, are the worst examples imaginable to use but expands in a contrived irrational manor a sharp 17 year old would turn away from.
He is pushing a type of moment to moment conscious awareness package. He ducts back and forth from believing…“there better be something after this” to advising there is nothingness, once you pass on you return to the nothingness you were before you were born.
Sam Harris is either faking a method of thought to make money, or is less intelligent then half the atheists in the world. The quantity of contradictions, illogical flow of thought is astounding…here are his tools ( I only needed to watch two videos on this guy
a) anger…( religion…this is the emotional common ground for drawing in the customers…not the product ok…an understood anger-guilt in his projected customer.
b) guilt…his strategy is wagering that many people are out there, boomers in an age group who now are realizing the party is over…doctors, a little fear, a little thinking and then guess what? guilt.
…the best antidote for above if a person is lazy, … is the “moment is fulfillment” The conscious moment is all we have which is real. This is his method. Meditation can get you started.
This is no more then devolving the mind downward toward animal behavior. A fantasy escape avoiding guilt and anger. A very talented salesman who is atheist would walk out on this presentation
Also…he speaks of the soul by saying, I don’t know if we do have a soul…and then he goes on with his twisted thinking “without” defining what he thinks the soul “is”
I fully believe Sam Harris movement is a fad type of thing…I listened carefully to the 4000 guest audience…all he really gets is a favor clap…theres a couple of reasons hes popular
