Curious, if you believe the same would apply in the instance of a man having sexual feelings/desires/ATTRACTIONS (seeming to be the buzz word here) towards a child? Would you then say that is MORALLY acceptable, as an ATTRACTION without ACTION?
Would you say that such attractions - not sought after, not embraced and cultivated, and not pursued - are sinful? That is certainly not a Catholic position. Sin requires the knowing choice of an act (which includes thoughts).

So while the feelings and unchosen thoughts and inclinations to which you refer need not be sinful in themselves, no one is suggesting they are good, benign or not a problem.

Nevertheless, most psychologists and psychiatrists believe that there is a genetic component to homosexual attractions.
  1. there very well might be a genetic marker that increases the likelihood of homosexuality, just like there are genetic markers that increase the chances of cancer … but people are not born with cancer
  2. Psychologists do not have MDs and they are scientists. Those are psychiatrists. Psychologists are technically social scientists, while psychiatrists have MD or DO degrees.
  3. if homosexuality was/is completely genetic, what are the chances that an adopted girl of two lesbians would become a lesbian too? That’s the case with MK Nobilette who was on American Idol.

Point - no one is born with same sex attraction. I would venture to take an educated guess that same sex attraction is typically a combination of BOTH genetic & environmental factors. With extreme situations that are solely environmental or solely genetic.

Quite reasonable proposition. Of interest is whether most of us are born “with opposite sex attraction”. Or does our upbringing and environmental factors lead to that result? Given our anatomy, our nature - it seems reasonable to anticipate we are born with a disposition (viz a viz sexual attraction) to the opposite sex. What factors might disrupt that inbuilt norm - I’ve no idea.

I agree with what you say here. To say that there is a genetic component is not to say that the genetics “cinch” the matter.

His therapy, at least in its latest form, doesn’t claim guarunteed or expected 100% change. If done properly, that is, without allowing shame to be a motivator, but treating it as an obstacle, it’s fine. What can do harm is someone who is so desperate to be healed that they become suicidal and depressed if it doesn’t work. His therapy doesn’t want people to do this, but I think it still happens. If one goes into it with the right motivations, there’s no garuntee that sexual feelings will be strongly turned around, and one needs to be self accepting, not hating, I don’t think this therapy can do them any harm, and it will probably be beneficial regardless of the outcome of sexual desires because it’s focus is on dealing with emotional and shame and gender connection issues. God is great in moving us as well. And not everybody needs therapy, some seem able to work through that stuff just fine without it. but it could be helpful for many who are struggling to connect with people.

Their situation is objectively scandalous, so while they are chaste per se, they are not living in a moral manner.
