Friend from childhood, 83, widower, sought intimacy with me, saying we weren’t commiting any sin since neither of us still has a wife. I haven’t responded yet, yes or no, but need to know if it is absolutely considered a sin for Christians? It’s not on the 10 Commandments, surely, but is mentioned as a blasphemy in Leviticus.

It’s sinful even if it isn’t with the same sex. You have to be married to somebody to have sexual relations with them, and people of the same sex can’t receive the sacrament of matrimony.

Peace.

The Catholic Church teaches that sex is only for one man and one woman in marriage. The Bible condemns homosexual sex and it is a serious sin.

Welcome to CAF @Confusedseniormale 🙋 A true friend has no desire to temp you to sin.

Cannot be adultery, right? So…where is a key commandment to prohibit?

to the contrary, he is a friend for life, now some 64 years so.
He only wants one intimate relationship and says he wants it
to be me to make me also finally happy again./

When you say “intimacy”, do you mean having a devoted particular friendship without a sexual component, or do you mean homosexual activity?

Having a close male friend, no problem. Having sex or engaging in physical intimacies, even those falling short of actual sex, that’s a problem.

Of course you cannot be sure 100% but brand new account, supposedly presbyterian, 80something year old writing in a forum with some odd questions about a topic that here is always controversial… smells fishy to me…
