It did bubble out of the vacuum. Do you know why things changed for gay (LGBT) people?I know this. I said the “sacramental view” of marriage. i.e., the view that society used to have, which coincided with the view the Church does have. Those views diverge now, and divorce is the reason why. Gay “marriage” didn’t just bubble out of the vacuum.
Prior to 1973, homosexuality was classified as a disorder by the American Psychiatric Association. This was based on years of studies and interaction with homosexual persons. That was their professional conclusion. But a group of closeted homosexuals within the APA and a radical gay activists group worked to remove it as a disorder, but not based on years of research, but by vote. Just look up Frank Kameny and the APA. All that research didn’t matter when what was a disorder yesterday became not a disorder the following day. Now gays could tell judges that nothing was wrong with them according to the vote - not science - of the APA. This change was engineered so that gays could go from then to gay marriage today. Don’t believe me?

“Host Ira Glass explains that the show this week consists of one long story, the story of something very small that was part of something very large in the history of our country.”
The vote was political, not scientific.
